It always comes back to this.

Simple truths are that Hamas could have stopped the fighting at any time and the offensive would have ended but Hamas ok with deaths of others.

There are some on here who don't have a problem with Hamas and see them as some kind of legitimate resistance to the Israelis. They will not admit so on here of course, but that is my opinion.

Whether or not the majority in Gaza support Hamas is not really relevant in the great scheme of things, however, you have a couple of million people where every child is indoctrinated to kill jews and river to the sea so that is hardly a good base for a negotiated solution. Hamas simply want the eradication of Isreal and all the Jews and Druze therein.
