Yes it's true, footballers are a bit dim, lack freewill and critical thinking skills, and are coldly and cruelly manipulated by their evil agents. Hopefully this distasteful episode has opened poor Ismaila's eyes to the greed that runs through the game.

I wouldn't put him at legend status. He's been great in terms of goals and assists when we've lacked them elsewhere in the squad. I don't feel that he has a major connection with the fans, or a clear love for the club, nor much of a cult hero like what I'd consider true Palace legends have had/been.

We need him because he scores goals and not many other available players do, simple at that.

Fair enough that's your opinion of course. For me though every one of the players who brought us the trophies are legends in my book having waited for 57 years watching Palace in the hope of winning something major
 
Football is a team game. The success of teams is good teamwork playing TOGETHER. The Premier has totally lost its direction on this fundamental which is why so many premier clubs are a shambles at the start of every season as they are cobbled together players chasing the biggest bucks.
Palace seem to have joined the premier mentality. Pity.

I think you’re right, those players are all legends, which makes it all the more a shame that basically they’re all mercenaries. The premier league has created a monster and apart from if you’re under the age of 10, it’s becoming harder and harder to idolise the modern day footballer with all the money and greed involved
 
I grew up watching our ‘team of the 80’s. Had a season ticket throughout these times., always stood next to TV in his dugout. Was there the night we beat Burnley 2-0 to win the division and be promoted. 51,802 people there that night. Vince Hilaire, Sansom, Murphy, Nicholas…what a team.

Then the Ian Wright era.. he literally could score for fun.

What happened to those beautiful days? Instead we now have VAR, and referees that allow Bruno to con him and ruin a great game then compound it with a ridiculous offside decision.

I persist in watching because I love football and Palace but I must say, it’s becoming a more difficult watch season by season as more and more admin ruins our game and now with Sarr and Mateta totally disrespecting their contracts.. well..what can you say?

I think we idolise anyone who stays with us thick or thin , Mitchell comes to mind also think Wharton to some extent , but now deano
 
Last couple of seasons it felt like we had a team of players who genuinely wanted to be part of a winning group and club legends. Mateta’s strop was the thin end of the wedge and now Sarr. It feels like JSL is benefiting from a run in the team which adds to the feeling we should have sold Mateta last season and Sarr when Liverpool came calling and he started his nonsense. We’d be financially better off or perhaps have a decent replacement now and a group of players who were happy to be part of the project this season. I’ll be disappointed if we don’t offload Mateta and Sarr in January.
