HSBC Sports Ground Beckenham

Palace tried to get this bit of land in the past and ended up with the one Academy is now on due to it was not for sale at the time (They do not own the Academy land its a long term lease only)

Current stadium is around 2.0-2.5 hectares apparently vs HSBC cricket ground of c. 5 hectares but Palace have bought it under the proviso of training facilities...however it is near a train station and is double the space of the current stadium if AI is to be believed.

I just checked again and now it says current stadium is 15 hectares, so no
 
I know this ground well also our current training ground , my understanding is we brought our current training ground , cant confirm as my brother in law not been to well
, his uncle owned it I believe ,
Doesn't kent use that ground or have I got the wrong ground .
It had two club houses , it had cricket, football , tennis it had it all ,

And best thing they served club half , ok a club half is you have nearly drank all of your beer and you ask for a club half , funny enough you end up with a full pint again , I got a little tipsy on 6 half's 🤣

Bromley turned down a request to build additional facilities on the 1st team training ground a couple of years ago. This meant the Club has had to share some facilities with the Academy. If it is true about the purchase planning permission should be easier to obtain as no private residences back directly onto the grounds. There are private houses across Lennard Road to the south but this only represents less than 20% of the boundary. Turning the land into a state of the art “campus” (don’t you love posh words) for our pampered players will be very expensive but there will be the added benefit of increased security and privacy.
 
HSBC is one of the best private sports grounds in south London with about 4 full sized grass pitches and a 4G Astro pitch. I reffed many games there in the Southern Amateur League - nice clubhouse and great hospitality after the game.

Kent's ground is on the site of the old Lloyds Bank Sports Ground. Our Acadamy is on the site of the old Natwest Sports ground and the HSBC site is next door to Nat West albeit with a railway line running right through the middle of the two. Commercial Unions site is the 1st team and it joined onto Lloyds.
 
The banks are divesting their property portfolios of land with very little opportunity for residential or commercial investment. This site is one of the last bank owned sites in the area and I have never seen anyone inside the grounds let alone playing sports. Anyway AI does not play sport so there is no need to keep the land.

Palace have always had problems with the current 1st team training ground as the facilities are cramped and Bromley refusing to allow expansion. Local residents complain about late night coaches arriving from away matches. Most importantly the HSBC ground will provide more parking for the Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porches our expanded squad needs. Don’t be surprised if Harris, Blitzer and co want a helicopter pad!

Wasn't our training ground called the great Hong Kong or something like that before natwest ? , need to speak to my sister and brother in law lol

You were right the first time. It is much bigger than the current site at Selhurst but doubt it would get planning permission. Due to traffic and nimby objections. Handy for the station though. It would cost about 500 million to build, so might be an option in future but unlikely now 200 million being spent at Selhurst.
