Chillwell and Mitchell

Its a good question, tough to do for each game, with the amount of games we have could split it:

1. One of them to start all PL games say Mitchell, then Chilwell might be promised minutes as a sub, coming on help close out all our winning positions🙂.
2. Chilwell starts all cup games (FA, league, Europa League), and Mitchell available as a sub if needed.

Its a nice problem to have. We seem to have cover everywhere. Its important though in case a player goes on strike and refuses to play - not that would ever happen of course. 😏

With a name like Chilwell, you'd think Ben would have a similar goal celebration to Cole Palmer?

I have said this already, Mitchell is easily the best defender at the club, and only an inch shorter than Guehi, and could play as the left of the 3 CDers, Chilwell is a far better attacking player than Mitchell, the problem with this is, they are back up for each other, McNeil is certainly a very attacking option, but would be fine in certain games you expect to win, Chilwell is only 2 years older than Mitchell.

Why not Chilwell at left centre back?
Sage, when we signed him, said that he was brought in partly because he can play left back or left side centre back.

I think Chilwell should be in the side. We should concentrate on playing our classiest players. Yes there is a lot depth now but a lot of youth and inexperience. It’s clear that Sage wants to play 5 at the back so
I would play

GK HENDERSON

RB KHALAILI
LB MITCHELL

RCB TOMAYISU
CB DISASI
LCB CHILWELL

M WHARTON
M TIMBER

CF LARSSON
10 KAMADA
11 PINO

The young kid HONEST really impressed me against Middlesbrough as well. I haven’t really seen much from the rest of the new signings to suggest that they should burst into the team.

Mitchell doesn't have the physical strength to play in that position. He would be regularly targeted by players like Haaland, Havertz/Gyokeres, Calvert-Lewin etc. Play the ball out left, cross it far post for the striker to attack Mitchell - easy win.

He also isn't good enough on the ball to play in that position. Guehi is seriously underrated as a ball playing centre back. He is one of the best in the league but because he is so simple and effective, it goes unnoticed. Chadi Riad had similar ball playing tendencies but was a drop off from Guehi. Mitchell is a drop off from Riad....

Not a bad shout at all. Like it.

Arseteta talks about starters and finishers rather than subs. We now have options in all positions so no need to squeeze them both in as starters. Sage will decide on a game by game basis who are our starting eleven and who is likely to replace them.

Guehi and Mitchell were a great combination and it surprised many that Mitchell was not
chosen for the England WC squad. His stats going forward are excellent being the top English defender last season for completed passes into the penalty box from open play (Premier League Official Stats). Do not underestimate his importance to the Palace defence. Chilwell has looked good against a poor Fulham side and Championship team and will be a good backup if needed. But don’t get carried away as to his ability. It’s Carabao, early stage FA and lesser team Europa League cups for me. Sage will choose when and where.

I think a few people are maybe getting a bit carried away with Chilwell's goal. He's a decent squad player with lots of big game experience. For me, no more than that.
A good player to have on the bench
