Looking to travel to Lyon with my 14-year-old son for his first European adventure 🇫🇷🇪🇺

We’re planning to go regardless whether he has enough loyalty points for a match ticket, but I’m looking to keep the costs as low as possible. we’re open to any suggestions on the cheapest way to travel.

Is anyone driving over there? or does anyone know of a particularly cheap way to get there?

Also, is anyone thinking of booking an Airbnb/apartment? It’s usually much cheaper when a few people share the cost, so we’d definitely be interested in joining a group if anyone has space.

Please let me know if you’re travelling over, driving, or have any tips on keeping the costs down. Thanks! 👍

We’ve booked an air b&b with the same thought, and a cheapish EasyJet from Manchester (we’re Up North). Prices for accommodation seem quite high and a lot of city centre options are booked up already-apparently there’s a film festival in town that week.

Eurostar via Lille is probably a better train option that via Paris.

Lille Flanders station is only about a 10-15 minute walk from Lille International station.

Via Paris you have to travel from Paris North station to Paris Lyon station which I am told by my French friend is a 20 minute taxi ride.

I'd imagine Lyon would be well served for getting to n from..regarding tix, every away leg last year I just applied for tix in home end , ..always worked ...

Going via Geneva is an option we took, we got ours last week and it was about £150 return. Prices may have increased now though.

Regarding tickets, I've only got 4,000 points so not hopeful of getting one. Planned to do the home end but that looks unlikely as they may well sell out and even if not, seem to be very strict on away fans in their area.

Hopefully will be a decent bar in town to watch it in.

Have you already done that mate, or waiting for tickets to go on sale?

Strasbourg last year involved all sorts of shenanigans, memberships, french vpns, non uk credit cards etc 🤣
