There was something in the Sage interview when he said, he prefers the window closed and he knows 100% who he has to work with (I’m paraphrasing)
For me Sarr is an automatic starter… but not if he’s going in January. He can rot in the reserves. Ungrateful greedy s***. Same with JPM.
I just don’t see the point in this rebuild building a team with them in it and then they f*** off in 4 months time. What’s the point.
Better to start fresh with players we know are here all season.

Guehi was fine from August to January.
If Sarr is on it play him.
Rotting him in the reserves bites our nose.
If he is not on it then you might be right.

Can you imagine how good we will be if both play to form.
The point is, we need as many points as quickly as possible and might as well use the best players that we are paying ,whether they play or not.

If he wants to move he needs to put himself in the shop window. If he spends the next 5 moths sulking no one will want him.

It should be simple and he should be made an example of if he makes it complicated. When he's 'fit,' either Sarr knuckles down or he goes on strike. At which point, we stop paying him and tell him he can rot until he plays again but we will not consider selling in January. If required, we battle him in court to maintain his state of limbo. Sarr will look forward to a wasted year of his career and a distinct knock-back in his value ( because players not playing soon lose their edge ) which will make him less desirable next summer and ruin his chances of walking out for a 'better' club. He will have a choice to face and the only smart move for him will be to do what he's bloody-well paid to do; honour his contract, and earn a move away that actually suits us as well as him.
We have the players to compensate for Sarr, short-term. Let's make an example of a player who breaks his contract. Send a message. It's about time someone did. The victim-talk from a multi-millionaire, living a dream life as an elite footballer, is sickening. Footballers get away with it far too much in country where millions are just barely getting by.

I agree with what you say but think the club will take a pragmatic approach and play him but are entitled to refuse any future business with his agent who's done a lot to create the situation.
Unfortuently we are not rich enough to be anything else but pragmatic. As much as I'd love to let him rot.
Get him integrated and take a call on the mood, if he's still pissed, get him gone in jan for anything £30+
As a professional Sarr should have no interest in not playing, and playing well.Everyone loses if he doesn’t, him his agent ,and of course the club . Only if he does will he stand a chance of a top club move next summer, which IMO will happen if someone wants him. The club get a replacement, and a suitable fee is paid. The club are not likely to want a continuing relationship with a discontented player.
JP also needs to keep up to speed, though not for quite the same reasons. He knows he walks when his contract ends, even so he has to remain interesting to top league sides. He is a bit different as the club were going to sell him, they didn’t force him to stay. Personally I hope all of this is resolved on the playing side and they both help us to a European success.

Not to defend Mateta too much as he is a big baby but, wasn’t this stuff about going to FIFA back in January but only reported now?
If so, he did somewhat prove to have a good attitude once he rested his knee which culminated in scoring the winner in the final. He also did play in our opening game before he injured his hamstring in training. Some of his actions, just like Sarr’s are indefensible but I believe that once he gets fit again I don’t think his commitment on the pitch will be questionable.
And Guehi, although he behaved better than most players (which is quite a low bar that is set) in that situation his form did take a massive dip in the weeks before he got his move.

My Take on this whole sh*tshow, is that Sarr's had a great season, which went under the Radar a little, but then he had an excellent World Cup, and he's Realised his Stock will never be higher. at 27 it's primetime for him, and he's tried to get out of what was a badly informed contract (as it turns out). No ones matched our Valuation of him - due to the length of the contract he's signed - and he's left angry and regretful, and currently venting that anger at Palace.
The only way out of this for him is to have a stunner of a season, at which point next summer a move is much more acceptable to all concerned.

I’m ok for him to be gone in Jan or next summer provided we get decent money. We now have enough wide players in our squad and I would hope that with some serious minutes and training at least one of them will step up into Sarr’s shoes.
I hate what he’s done and hate all these money grabbing footballers but that’s the way I see it as best for the club.
My preference would be to get rid of both Sarr and JSL and get a decent striker in whether that be Jan or summer.
