George Galloway debanked - assault on free speech, boycott Lloyds

But only to those ultra-rich customers. The rest of us couldn't care less who has an account with them or what dodgy investments are made on their behalf and even if we did what are we going to do? Take all our millions and bank somewhere else I guess.

How far the modern left have fallen, it's sad to see. Represented by finance multi-millionaires, corporate HR depts and slum landlords.

Meanwhile, one of their genuine old-school legends is debanked and there is not even a murmur of protest from them.

He'll win or get paid out of court. He loves a bit of victimhood anyway.

Sure, but in this case I think he is.

These fecking banks have too much power as it is.

After 2008 they have no right to any respect in my book.....I'm talking about the banking elite who take these kind of decisions, not the underlings who have to take orders.

If he's still in his cat phase he can celebrate by jumping up on the sideboard and giving himself a damn good licking.

Banks and all businesses should be free to decline the custom of whoever they want.

TBH Galloway posted this after farage got debanked so politics aside he did attack the decision.

Reinstate @Nigel_Farage bank account @CouttsandCo No McCarthyism in the essential field of personal banking please. Farage today who tomorrow? Your bank today which tomorrow? Do yourselves a favour reverse this foolishness now.

Presumably Galloway believes that money will be abolished in his Marxist utopia, so does he really need a bank account.

Banks are arguably a service - one that is essential to function in today's world.

So, no I don't believe that people should be denied essential services based on their political views.

Do you believe electricity and water companies should have the right to cut you off for your political views?

Strictly speaking having a bank account is not essential, but yes very inconvenient not having one. There are many banks available, he could easily get an account elsewhere. I expect the various Islamic banks would welcome him with open arms. Some banks, such as Coutts have quite stringent requirements that you have to meet before they will let you have an account and most banks have premium accounts only open to the relatively wealthy. Utilities such as electricity and water are in effect monopolies with no other providers available, although with electricity there are a number of companies that you can have an account with. As power, water etc are pretty much essential, yes you should have access, although of course some people are cut off for non payments of bills.
As far as possible, businesses and people should be able to choose who they do business with.
