No we didn’t. My understanding was that Johnson was around £25m-£30m plus add ons and it’s likely Everton took on the money still due to Spurs at say 50% which is usual. Means we spent as little as £12.5m on the waste of space. As for SL, yes the total fee is over £45m but it wouldn’t surprise me if we get rid of him for a lesser fee with money still owed to Wolves. Would be a smart move to admit that that window was a disaster and try to minimize the damage and cut our losses.
 
If this is true, it’s good news. What I simply don’t understand is how we were panicked into buying two players I had never really heard of for so much money. Obviously Glasner was throwing his toys out of the pram but he will never last more than two or three years anywhere he goes. Like Mourinho. We have never had success spending a lot of money. Ian Wright, Vince Hilaire, Kenny Sansom…and many others, diamonds for nothing. I think a great scouting network is essential.
Nothing would give me greater pleasure than Strand Larsson delivering goals. Hopefully starting today.

I wonder whether, in a dark, desperate moment, the Chairman thought we'd be relegated and these two would have us dominate the Championship? That said, we were desperately in need of a lift the week these two arrived and it sorted of worked.

No, they thought they were decent signings. Brennan Johnson was passed by Glasner too, apparently. I think most of us thought it would work.
Strand-Larsen always seemed way overpriced. His stats do not add up to 47 million. However, rather ironically, he looks like he could eventually be worth around that. Whereas Johnson still is the same at Everton.

Worst player for them yesterday, funny how everyone thoght we were getting a worse deal swapping him for McNeil!

Didn't that charlatan Romark put a curse on us after we reneged on paying his fee for exorcising the demons from Selhurst with a view to improving our home form?

At least our ground wasn't built on an ancient Indian burial ground ( or perhaps it was!)
