Trepidation for the 26/27 Prem season ?

I'm basing it on nothing at all and had really never particularly followed either manager, but for some reason I was more convinced by Glasner. I think it's just some kind of subconscious reaction to appearances or demeanor or something like just an instinct.
Looking at their records it is entirely logical. Glasner had won the Europa league and had a good record with two clubs in the Bundesliga similar to us in terms of size. Well he had a good record for a couple of years and then fell out with them.

Sage has two seasons in Ligue 1. One very successful one.

He’s got a hell of a job on his hands now I think. He’s got to to sort out a best eleven sharpish in the league while keeping us competitive. We’ve shown in our first two games we are miles off the pace so far and a soft touch at the back. Lose the next three Legaue games and he will do well to keep his job as we simply can’t afford to find ourselves adrift at the foot of the table.

Fairly certain that was Florian Marange. Settled his family here and had arranged kids school. Then given the Spanish archer.
Yes, it was. I knew His name began with F but couldn't remember. Well done... I wish I had a prize to give you but if its any consolation you would qualify my pub quiz team... If I had one.. 👍👍👍

You’re not the only one, he doesn’t fill you full of confidence does he? I think it’s just a personality thing. But then as someone else pointed out to me when I’ve said this before Sir Steve Coppell wasn’t exactly mr personality and he and noadesy built a great team from scraps

I think he will get 10/12 league and cup games, unfortunately it could take most of them to get something going. Preseason was patchy ,with no one getting completely up to speed, some decent signings but most a bit late in the process. The present group will not do enough, as you intimate , and it will take a few games to get the new people up to speed. Added to that is the , Sarr, JP, saga to deal with. not just getting them fit but getting their heads fully on the job.
Sage, is going to try to play entertaining front foot football, probably with no plan B, if he produces near zero results. It will at that point probably be a job for Dyche, to come in and produce some safety first football to hopefully sneak us out of trouble . This would not be what I want by the way . But Sage really has got to prove he is a good manager with this situation.

Mate I think after the window - we now have a top 10 squad.

I’m very happy with our Business in the window.

My only observation as is always with Parish - why was it all left so late.

Once again we’ve thrown away early points and it will take time for all the new signings to settle in and understand what Sage requires.

So realistically we’re now looking after the International break before we start seeing the best from this squad.

So once again we’ll be playing catch up.

When is Parish ever going to learn - yes we got there in the end, we’ve got depth and quality depth across the squad. But why did it take so long.

That aside I’m pleasantly surprised and happy.

How did we leave it late. Our first signing this window was in the beginning of July and then we went on to sign 11 players but still you want to blame Parish for losing our first two games. How is that so?

I really don't get this anti Parish stuff. Posters go out of their way to find anything to blame him for. Genuine question, Why is that?..

I think the vast majority of the posters think Parish is a great chairman, but not necessarily around transfer windows.

Now this may be unfair as the full facts aren't known, but it seems remarkable that each window seems chaotic on the last day and that was topped off by the Fofana fiasco yesterday.

There's an argument that many clubs seemed to be caught up in the last minute chaos this time which also has validity.
Perhaps we were seen as the example to follow this time around!

I think Parish is brilliant. But it is also undeniable that we have entered the season completely unprepared to start a Legaue campaign and behind other clubs in terms of readiness. It’s also undeniable this seems to be a recurring theme with us.

Some of this (the Sarr situation) is not on the club. Some of it (selling Lacroix and not having a replacement in place for the start of the season) definitely is. Either way we are approaching our third game of the season having played two, lost two and with no idea who our best eleven is.

That is harsh , new manager June 3rd most of the first team at the WC , late coming back , some leaving , some coming in ,
if none left it would have been new manger plus a couple of new signings , 👍🏻

As I said some of it is beyond the club’s control. It’s still a fact though. We knew from October (allegedly) and certainly from January we needed a new manager. Other clubs had players at the World Cup and seem much better prepared. Newcastle lost arguably their best three players, have a new manager and have four points from two tough looking fixtures.

There are mitigating circumstances but the fact is we are behind the eight ball and behind other clubs in similar circumstances

Personally, I think this has been a really good window. Over many seasons the complaint on the site has been that we haven't signed enough players and now we have signed players, we have somehow signed too many. We also started to get players in early on, again the complaint has always been we leave it late, which was not the case this time around, we were signing right through the window.

To address your worries..

"Worry one, is the dressing room going to be big enough".
This is your first worry? I hope you are saying this as a tongue in cheek comment..

"Worry two , are we in a Chelsea world to many players"
We where very light previously and considering that we have a proper European campaign to contend with I think it's great that we have competition for positions and cover for injuries.

"Worry three , will Sage really know who his best 11 will be with so many choices , that really worries me".
That is what the manager is there for. Its his job to select the team. If a manager can't pick his best players then what is the point of a manager.

It has also been suggested in other posts that the team somehow lacks quality. How do we know that yet? We have made 11 signings, some of them look good from the start and we only lost two in Munoz and Lacroix both good players but not irreplaceable.

We have to wait and see if there has been a drop in quality as far as I'm concerned.. I don't think so but time will tell. That's not confusing, that's how it always is, for every team.

I was watching a Talksport podcast and every fan from every club was moaning about their transfer window. It seems to me that nothing is ever good enough unless you are Man City.

Everton fans were crying, they sold players and the Balogun transfer failed. Chelsea fans were crying as they lost Fernandes without a replacement. Aston Villa fans were crying as, well, they lost all their players, Man Utd fans were crying because they hadn't strengthened for the Champions League and a Palace fan was crying because we left it late again.. really!

The only thing I'm crying about is that we are so negative about our club. Half the threads started are ridiculously negative, all based on assumption, speculation and pessimism.

I'm now going to look forward to the coming games, now the transfer frenzy is over. I look forward to seeing how our squad settles and who we can get excited about watching.

I'm not singling out your post as anything negative , bad or wrong. I could have replied to a few recent posts in this thread and I get that they are a lot of unknowns, there always are. For us this season more unknowns than usual, we have a new manager etc.

You end your post with.. "So how I see the season progress from here to be honest I'm not sure". For me, that's what its all about?

I hope we have a good season with our new look and new manager. Nothing is guaranteed, is it ever with us but come the end of the season, I expect to still be supporting a Premier League club that hopefully finishes above Br!ghton (bit of an ask at the moment) and Notts Forest...

COYP...
Totally agree.
Well said!

Let’s face it, Parish is a muppet. The fiasco with two private jets with a failed signing at the last hour. Embarrassing. Look at the way Brentford did all their business early. No unseemly haggling at the airport so we could save a few quid. Honestly.

The manager part We had couple of targets that was still employed , we could only talk to them , alot of other teams had less than us there , and more early returns , as we are not a big enough club to cover all them at the time , it was he'll of alot harder 👍🏻

I agree with the first part of your post.

As for chaotic transfer windows, that is never going to change and it is the same for every club. Go onto any and I mean any other fan site and you will find exactly the same statements. It is the very nature of transfer windows that they are chaotic with many surprises. Who would have guessed that Forest would come in for Munoz or even suggest buying Henderson. Was there any warning that Liverpool would make a 50 million bid for Sarr?

Of course a club should rightly expect that some of your best players may be targeted but you never know exactly how you have to plan until a bid comes in.

In regards to Fofana, that is a prime example of what I mean, we saw an opportunity looked at the finances and went for it, having looked at what Sage still needed at that stage of the window and look at it from Sunderland’s side. They may have planned for year to bring Fofana in, only to have him snatched away in the final hours of a window. If that had happened, what then. is that their chairman’s fault?

What other teams do in transfer windows also has a huge bearing on the business a club can do. Monaco’s on off deal with Chelsea for Camara is a prime example. First they would sell as they needed money. Then they wouldn't, then they would at a lower price, then they cancelled again. Chelsea in the meantime sold Fernandes and Monaco Scre%ed themselves over in the end and ended up not selling anyone.

Again did anyone guess or have knowledge the Chelsea would come in for Lacroix at the time they did?

You can have a basic idea but players come up for sale or fail medicals. No one knows what is actually happening at the time of a window and it is so simple and lazy to point the finger rather than admit as fans we really know nothing in regards to how a transfer comes about.. Sometimes, maybe lots of times, business is done late. Sometimes you can get something over the line quickly.

Absolute garbage. We used to dream of staying up for ONE season. I’ve seen us play more seasons in what is now the Championship and League One than the Prem. Now it’s 16 ? and we’ve won 3 trophies.

Do you live in a village, and do they have a name for you.
