What the past year has taught us is that Parish's objective of selling only one star per window, and staggering contracts to assist in this, has been blown out of the water.
Not necessarily his fault, Newcastle and Villa have similarly suffered even with players under long term contracts.

The trick now is how Palace respond to this 'new reality' and whether an adequate response is even possible.

Squad looks bigger to me but far less balanced and without Sarr we look like we won’t score anywhere enough goals and having decimated our previous back 3 we will concede goals. Seems to be a really strange feel about the place. Not sure if this is why OG wanted out or as a result of him going! Strange times.

We must have been 2 short last year as well. We have so far sold/released 6 and bought/loaned 6 first team players. Not necessarily upgrades on who went but there we are, same squad size as May. It would be good to get in some fresh faces but I assume other first team squad members need to make way e.g. Devenny, Esse, JRS, JPM and/or Sarr. I am assuming Sarr will only go if they get a decent replacement prospect. The others I will be happy to recycle fir something new.

It's difficult to get a handle on but I have seen a few articles suggesting that in all three cases the turnover of players is attributable to the change from FFP to SCR, and/or being in Europe, where more stringent financial regulations apply. It might be that what we are seeing is the result of things that are a bit unique to this particular summer, and that in future we might be able to sell at a more controlled rate, though overall I've found it very hard to get a clear picture on the subject.

We are very short on quality and it will cost us if we keep conceding a goal every 30 minutes on average.

The reason the centre halves look shaky is because there is no cover for them further up the pitch. The midfield is the key in any side, where most battles are fought, and where the game is won and lost.
Wharton? Yes he has good vision and a pass on him but he's lightweight and fades in the second half, the same with Kamada. Who else? There is no one else in this configuration, and therein lies the problem.
Why Sage continues to use this system is a mystery to me, the league performances in the second half of last season and so far this season clearly identify the midfield as the weak link, notwithstanding the calibre of Wharton and Kamada. It needs another player in there.

We need a midfield ball winner and goal scorer , CB we need a permanent signing in that area for balance , loan players help but if we can't keep them then we are 1 missing every season , I do like the try before you buy as a loan , but if no obligation to buy in place we are short in that area again , its very important that all defenders understand each other and there should be 2 leaders in there
