I have to say, I absolutely love Munoz as a player, but I’m far less concerned about him going now than I would have been a year ago.

I do think he’s missed a beat since the injury, which is understandable, and he’s a little bit older now. But the bigger thing for me is that he’s not the same player because he no longer has the same players around him.

When he was at his most effective, particularly in the cup-final season, he had Eze naturally drawing defenders away and creating space for him to run into. He had Guehi behind him, a genuinely ball-playing centre-back who could progress the ball, and he had Mateta up front, who you could ping it into, trust him to hold it up and then bring the wide players into play. The cup final was probably the perfect example of how well that system worked.

Now Eze has gone, Guehi has gone, the defence looks completely different, and Mateta isn’t the player he was in that FA Cup-winning season. His close control at the moment is further than I can kick it.

So for me, this feels like one of those moments where £20 million for a player who was absolutely brilliant in a particular system, but who now appears to be playing in a team that no longer uses that system, is very good business.

I’d take £20 million all day long.

Still just a shame it’s to Forest. c****.

Panic you not. Mingueza would step in and we can call back Cardines if necessary in the winter transfer window. If Khalaili improves his final ball I can see the big clubs queuing up for his services. That’s more of a concern.

I couldn't be happier Daniel is going to Forest rather than anyone else. As such a great servant to Palace its great to see Forest are giving him a 3 year contract (with an option for a fourth year). From his personal point of view this contract will probably provide security for him and his family for the rest of his days. Had he been bought by a bigger club they would not have needed to tempt him with such a long term contract (for an over 30) and there's no way they would have done either.
From a Palace point of view this is great business. Love Daniel as many of us do he has not been the same player since his injury. People might say thats sour grapes. Its not. He is in my opinion starting to fade. Players like Daniel rely on their pace and stamina. He showed neither in the second half of last season. Its unlikely that (coming up for his 31st birthday) will change. £22m for a full back thats over 30 is a World record. Its more money we could ever have hoped to make on him.
Finally, in such an unPalace situation we have actually not only replaced him with a lad that is almost 10 years younger but in Mingueza we have back up for Kalaili too!
Time will tell whether Kalaili will be as good as Daniel. His crosses weren't great against City but he has time on his side and his pace is electric. I was very impressed by him.
Personally I think this is a great deal for Palace and a great deal for Daniel. The only party in this that I'd have to wonder why is Forest. It might prove to be a good deal for Glasner as having Daniel helps him implement his 5 at the back system. But really, hands up anyone who truly believes Daniel Munos will be a first choice starter at Forest for one season let alone three. I dont see it.

Honestly that's a great perspective to have, and not wholly untrue either. I do think he will do well for them though, and I'm sure he will play plenty of games for as long as Oli isn't binned off.

The main part that rankles for me, and it seems a lot of people, is that I feel we should not do any business with Forest whatsoever, even if it makes sense for all involved.

I'm vindictive, and those of us with that opinion are. I don't think it's a bad quality, especially in sports, and especially when we have been wronged in such a way as Forest & the Don have done in recent times.

We should have a club embargo on business with them, until the court case has been dissolved, and until the Don apologises and reimburses us for lost income and damages, or sells up to someone with no links to his murky business practices.

kind of my point. There was another side of the pitch that had to be focussed on which drew out the central players. The ones on his side would then drift inwards to cover.

With Sarr being the main man now, it reduced the space for Munozz

Great player prior to his accident. It really put a mockers on his career, sadly.

Nose surgery it would seem. First time he was on cctv after the World Cup my wife said oh Munoz has had a nose job, apparently he looks different.

I loved Munoz as I am sure most did, I watched the Forest game and I think we have replaced well. Khalalli needs time but looks a real talent. Munoz was superb and I think we got the best of him

I can see the possible bonus of doing business with Forest. A certain Greek gentleman has a go at sucking the life out of Palace, buying up OG and DM, and there might be the joy of watching them, even with the addition of CPFC quality (OG & DM) go down.

So the winning goal came direct from the Cov goalkeeper straight to DaSilva on the left wing who took it down and buried it well. Did I happen to mention it was on Munoz side of the pitch where the goal was scored? Broke my heart seeing Glasner’s face when that happened and even more so when var disallowed the equaliser for a foul in the build up.

Still never mind, a couple more losses against ‘inferior teams’ and Glasner will be picking up his P45.

Seeing some of the Forest fans' comments, it seems it pains them too. They seem unhappy that Aina has been dropped for Munoz.

I was gutted he left, but whereas Khalaili has room to grow and develop, you feel Munoz has hit his ceiling. Hopefully he has another stinker against us.
