You perhaps misunderstand the rules on here.

Once a player leaves Palace,

1) He wasn't that good, was too old, had reached his 'ceiling', had weaknesses that only became evident when he was leaving
2) His replacement is much better even if such player is injured, has no serious track record, is inexperienced and new to country and the Premier League.

Finally, our window has been great and Larsen will be brilliant given time and the right service and Canvot has a higher ceiling than Guehi.

I think that about sums it up.

Yes rule 1 and 2 are very much evident in the sudden treatment/opinion reversal of Muñoz on here of late.

Your anecdotes after those two rules actually I am fairly on board with.

I actually am one of the ones who are happy with the window as it currently stands. I will be disgruntled if we do business with Forest though.

I do believe that Larsen should be given a fair shot, at least to the extent that Mateta was, which is far from already taken place.

The Canvot point, I'm not sure, their ceilings may be at similar heights, although Canvot is earlier on in his journey and at the moment not at the same level.

It's a good deal.

Lacroix is a different kettle of fish and I think 52 with three years left, was under-priced.

However, if a player wants to go and you need money for transfers, it is what it is.

That's the gamble a club takes with a new manager demanding new signings.

Some pundits like Michael Owen put Munoz in their PL Team of the Season, so did Munoz have an average season? I seem to remember he was really good before his injury and seemed to struggle a bit to get up and down the pitch as much on his return. But then he was arguably the best right-back at the World Cup.

I think Forest will be very happy with this deal, but I do also think in the long run investing in Khalaili is wise, as he does look a proper talent.
 
I couldn't be happier Daniel is going to Forest rather than anyone else. As such a great servant to Palace its great to see Forest are giving him a 3 year contract (with an option for a fourth year). From his personal point of view this contract will probably provide security for him and his family for the rest of his days. Had he been bought by a bigger club they would not have needed to tempt him with such a long term contract (for an over 30) and there's no way they would have done either.
From a Palace point of view this is great business. Love Daniel as many of us do he has not been the same player since his injury. People might say thats sour grapes. Its not. He is in my opinion starting to fade. Players like Daniel rely on their pace and stamina. He showed neither in the second half of last season. Its unlikely that (coming up for his 31st birthday) will change. £22m for a full back thats over 30 is a World record. Its more money we could ever have hoped to make on him.
Finally, in such an unPalace situation we have actually not only replaced him with a lad that is almost 10 years younger but in Mingueza we have back up for Kalaili too!
Time will tell whether Kalaili will be as good as Daniel. His crosses weren't great against City but he has time on his side and his pace is electric. I was very impressed by him.
Personally I think this is a great deal for Palace and a great deal for Daniel. The only party in this that I'd have to wonder why is Forest. It might prove to be a good deal for Glasner as having Daniel helps him implement his 5 at the back system. But really, hands up anyone who truly believes Daniel Munos will be a first choice starter at Forest for one season let alone three. I dont see it.
£22m? I think Parish saw them coming!
 
Stings to see Munoz go, especially to those Forest cunce. I genuinely feel he's the best RB in the Premier League.

That said, he never quite got back to his best after his knee injury and I think with his high tempo game, he's only got two more good years in him. We signed him for less than £7m, got 2.5 great seasons (probably his best too) and sold him for a £15m profit. We've done well.

Time will tell with Khalaili, but he comes with a big reputation. With our business model, we hopefully have another gem who we sell in two years time for £50m.

This season is a rebuild and it's all rather painful to take after the recent highs. I suspect Prem survival will become the target.

I thought he had an average season yes.....I can't speak for Owen.

We will see I guess.

People keep repeating this but he did not play between 5th March and 12 April. When he came back he either scored or assisted (allowing 2 assists per goal) on half of our goals for the remainder of the season. I have no defensive stats to help determine his shortcomings but players often take a while to get up to full speed after injury
He then had an outstanding World Cup with just him and Porro considered as the best right back there
