Who feels let down again

Nothing to do with Parish. Players see the glistening lights and want some for themselves. That has become clear with the likes of JPM kicking up a stink. Anyone doing that is a lot more to blame than the board are.

We have made 8 signings and had 2 players leave. Clinton and others keep saying we are lean etc, are we really? We have 6 more players than we had last year, some really good signings have come in.

If we are lean now, what on earth were we last year? Microscopic? Still won a European trophy and avoided the drop with a decent cushion below.

We have sold our two best centre backs in the space of a year with our world class wing back seeming about to leave too. Not much to be positive about there.

We have one decent striker who wants to leave and a quality goal scoring winger who also wants out. There is no one else in the squad anywhere near good enough to cover those positions.

I'm struggling to find the silver lining.

We might beat Fulham. Leeds are on a different trajectory to us: we'll definitely lose even if we score first. Ipswich are dodgy for us. Maybe we could get a draw - if we're much tougher and more pragmatic.

There is a lot of difference between those three fixtures and the two we have just played. At the very least we have a better chance in all of them.

We beat Fulham in preseason only three weeks ago and have strengthened the squad since then.

We never beat Everton and we almost never win our opener. Business as usual.

Man City are a top-four side with a 200M+ squad. It was hardly expected that we would just roll them over. We actually put in a good performance against City, and if we replicate that performance against smaller teams like Fulham, like Leeds, like Ipswich, we will do very well indeed.

But we got two right backs, a free defender, a loan defender, a player we already had and barely used and a youngster on the wing who may work out. Make that make sense. If Sage does well, he gets snapped up by a mid-table Prem team looking to replace a failing manager.

Our main problem is us buying shyte new players. Its too many shyte newcomers to be bad luck or an accident. Its rank incompetence.

Not even managed to beat Accrington Stanley this season which is embarrassing. Admittedly we haven't played them, but it's a good gauge for how tin pot we've become.

Hmm, I normally agree with most of your points but i am sure we don't choose to sell our best players. It's the players themselves, agents, other and bigger clubs that seek to reduce competition, that simply make it impossible to retain them as soon as a club like ours has a modicum of success.

Our next 3 PL games are Fulham,Ipswich and Leeds.I cannot see us winning any of them, in actual fact it is the model of plausibility that we could be defeated in each of these games.I am far from confident we will defeat Middlesbrough in the League Cup.

Its always the same old thing with us. What kind of supporters are we when we can't even get behind our own team.

OK, So we have lost our first two games and some good good players have moved on, what would be expected for a club of our size after the last couple of seasons we've had. We managed to find some real class over the years, enough to keep us in the league for what, twelve seasons.

We have gone from a weakish championship side, with, no ground, nearly no club and not a trophy to
p!ss in, to a possible new stand, over a decade in the Premier League, an F.A. Cup, Community Shield and a European Trophy. We have recently had four of our players in the England squad, more than any of the top clubs and still we moan and its the same fans over and over.

We only have to lose a game and some smart bloke is calling out Parish or players that have only been here five minutes.

Look at Villa, Newcastle, Bournemouth, Brentford and the players they have lost to top sides. On top of that we have not totally sold out as a club chasing the dollar like some of the above. As far as I see it, we play a good hand in a rigged game.

The same fans giving it the doom and gloom predict the same sh!te every season, in fact every game. What do we have to do as a club before it stops and we actually believe in our team.

Losers in the stands will breed losers on the pitch. We are one club, mood and confidence matters.

Yes, this is what I mean by inevitability. The price of our recent success is that other clubs have become aware of our players and some players have left. Palace can't compete in the money stakes arena, nor with satisfying the egos of players who want more. The point being is that recruitment needs to be pretty much up there to recover what has been lost. Thus far there has been a steady and noticeable erosion of the team's ability to compete at this level. 15th place finish in the league last season should have the alarm bells ringing.
Perhaps this is the way it is after a brief period of success, the sharks come into feed, we have seen it before with other clubs.
The side that achieved a modicum of success took a few seasons to build and click, over a range of different managers. We seem to agree.

Parker has suffered immediate relegations in his first seasons back in the PL with Fulham,Bournemouth and Burnley.
He has however overseen promotions to the PL with multiple clubs, so he might prove useful should we get relegated to the Championship at the end of this season.

Thats fair comment, but i dont think he would have had a squad of internationals that we have now, but to go from a proven Premier league manager to one with one season in France IMO is a massive gamble, i hope it pays off.

Yes, all our better players want 100k a week, we cant afford more than 3 or 4.

I wouldn't say i feel let down, but i am a little pissed off. Mainly with the Sarr and Mateta shenanigans a day before our first game of the new season and the hour after the first game of the season. This wont help anybody. We still have time to bring in players as well as get rid. If this was all done 3 weeks ago then i'd have said it's a shame they want out but fair enough lets replace them. Now it feel rushed and unplanned and once again we start the season undercooked. As i've said numerous times on here before, It's brilliant finally having squad depth, but if that depth ends up becoming the first team due to players like Lacroix, Mateta, Sarr and Munoz moving on, then we are worse off with unproven players and then still no depth.

I would not rate our performance as worthy of such praise.We were not comfortable in defence and never threatened the Man C goal. I will accept that we had 'Moments' in the first half.
With regards to the games against Fulham,Leeds and Ipswich, these teams are of course not of the same standing at Man C, however I am far from convinced that we have an attack that will cause them issues.
At this juncture I will be content with a point at Fulham, a defeat will cause further alarm and despondency.
