Daniel Munoz

He didn't have a great season in line with a generally poor league season from the team, but still contributed 11 goals and assists in 29 league games.

He also had a very good world cup.

We've bought a replacement, and I expect Munoz will be sold, but to paraphrase Mark Twain I think Munoz's demise has been greatly exaggerated.

I think he will prove to still be a top player and we'll do very well if his replacement has anything like the same impact.

Since his injury in Dec he has lost pace hasnt been at his best, i fear his best days are over so we should cash in while we can. Been great for us but time to move on.
I imagine he is on the way down, but we are talking about declining from an extremely high peak (to my mind clearly the best right-sided defender we have ever had). In terms of attacking output, at least, he was consistent throughout last season in terms of goals and assists - as good in the final few games, after returning from injury, as at any time in the season. He was one of the only two players in his position vying for a place in the best XI of the WC
Having said that, he clearly has better players competing for time in his position and, if Mateta is not playing for us, an important combo is broken up.
I just hope he gets a move to a Champions League club

I assume that is their first offer. If they open with £20m they will probably go to £25m.

Hopefully, Sage now knows enough about Khalaili and Mingueza to judge if they can fill the right WB role. If yes, then £25m would be a good deal.

Having said all of that, I am finding the disintegration of the FA cup winning team hard to take only 15 months on.

"Ce la vie" as Pierre might say.
Big B*witched fan, is he?

Nowhere near enough money for one of our best players, especially in today's market.
We paid £35mil for Johnson ffs.

I disagree with comments here that he's past it... I imagine his best season is yet to come. He was absolutely incredible at the World Cup.

To be fair I don't think many people have said he's past it or writing him off as a bad player. But like when we sold Anderson he may be just beyond his prime... Which for a full action wing back I could forsee a quick tail off/mounting injuries.

If the money is right I have a feeling we'll accept. If it's not then I'm also happy as he clearly will still have a lot to offer... And we'll have wasted Notts Forest time 😉

He's been one of my favourite players since he's arrived. I'm sure I've read it about him somewhere, that his passion is like having a fan playing on the pitch (or at least a very talented one).

I'm amused on these forums by how often players are seen as 'great' when they play for Palace, but are dismissed as lesser players as soon as they leave (other than Olise).

Playing for Palace obviously makes them better players!

All I know is that we potentially face this season without 3 players from of our FA Cup winning defence, and with the possibility of losing our two most potent and most reliable goalscoring forwards.

If this materialises I would take some convincing we now have a better squad no matter how many new players we have bought.

Forest also in talks for fiorentina's right-back dodo (the bald one that gave away penalty at selhurst) so not a given that they expect to get munoz.

I don't know if aina has left forest as he was decent and would be perfect for the right wing-back role.

Andersen was mentioned earlier in this thread.

I thought selling him, particularly given the timing, was a mistake.

However, Fulham paid a top price for him, and gave him the length of contract he was after.

We brought in an unknown ( to us ) in LaCroix. I think that worked out very much in our favour.

With Dani, my heart wants him to stay. My head says we should sell at the best price we can expect to get for him. He set himself an incredibly high bar with his performances two seasons ago, but he wasn't quite at that level last season - and is now thirty years old.

Palace appear, for once, to have done some succession planning too.

Seeing him in a Forest shirt though....well, that's a tough one to take.

Think this was always the plan - to sell Munoz this is why Khalaili and Mingueza were bought in - Gozo can play RWB too.

Obviously him going to Forest is a bit galling - but TBH think we have seen the best of him.
Yep Khalaili is a ready made replacement. I know we've only seen a glimpse of him in action, but seamed comfortable at this level.

Getting the cover in early puts us in a good position. Only need to sell for the right money, if not we'll keep him until Jan. More than enough games to go around!

Ola Aina started in Nottm Forest's opening 2 games this season.
He will reach the age of 30 later this year.
