War in Ukraine

Russian ambassador to the UK withdrawn.

Another British PM totally out of his depth, it is not as though anyone voted for him.

Zelensky refusing elections again he knows he will lose.

This is not WW2 Burnham, but you are the type of clown that could enable one.

Uneducated drivel as usual

You think a near stalemate is success? 4 years and 500000 killed without even taking their first objective of the Donbass.
Yes, it is clearly a success by Russian perspectives.

What people in the West See: A nuclear powered nation that has struggled to take over a smaller nation despite massive investment in equipment and personnel. A destroyed economy that is moving closer to being a Chinese client economy every day. Expansion of NATO as a result.

What Russians See: Russia has defeated the eastward expansion of NATO into Russia and is winning against NATO forces in Ukraine. They have prevented Ukraine from joining NATO and the stationing of NATO personnel in Ukraine that was the precursor to the NATO invasion of soft underbelly of Russia. Genetic Russians in Ukraine have been saved from Ukrainian Nazis. Only through a strong authoritarian leader like Putin can Russia prevent NATO from taking over.

Reality tends to depend on the perspectives of the individuals involved. So while for you it is clearly a Russian loss, to the average Russian they are doing the Lord's work to keep Mother Russia safe while defeating NATO on a daily basis.

No one knows what the figures are of the dead.

All sides lie about that kind of stuff.

As for the Donbas? Around 10% of the Donbas (Donetsk + Luhansk oblasts combined) remains outside Russian control, based on the latest Institute for the Study of War (ISW) figures as of 23 August 2026.

It's not a stalemate, drones mean that it's slow but Russia take ground every month.

Oh, you're talking about internal propaganda, not the actual battle. Except for NATO where it's the actual battle.

At least you admit it's a loss.

I quite like this idea that I'm the 'red under the bed'.

Stirlingsays the 'red terror'.....pro Putin.

I will say that compared to the west they are a lot more based.

But I mean....apart from being European and having some very shaggable women.....it's the bleeding slavs at the end of the day....Ukrainian or Russian.

Not Anglos.....they aren't even north western Europe.

I just want what's best for the British people and I comment on the war from what I see from battlefield reports.....being truthful about it.

If people had done that during the Vietnam and Iraq war for example, far less of our people would have been killed.

You mean like the internal propaganda that you are pushing? No different from their perspective.

If you don't realize that a significant portion of the world sees this as Russia vs NATO then you need to read more from Asia, Africa and South America. Once again, perspective is more important then your perceived reality.

The sad part is that many people in the West are like yourself, delusional into believe that what you believe is shared around the world.

But you agreed with what I said, losing their objectives, pyrrhic at best
The entire conversation went over your head. This is all about perspectives.

The Russians view this a Patriotic War, so to the average Russian, they are convinced that they are stopping NATO from taking over Russia. So to them, it is all worth it.

You see all of the issues it has caused for Russia, Russians view it as being worth the cost and sacrifice to protect Russia.

Is the UK 'participating' in the war between Ukraine and Russia, as the Kremlin says?

The deep-rooted russophobia among the British 'elites' is well known and even the USA wonder why:-

Yeah quite right. Russia's leaders are innocent of any harm towards Britain aren't they. Poor Russia. Just wanting back all the countries they'd ruled so successfully back in the good old days.

Sure the US is closer and more empathetic to them, with Trump in charge. Funny that.

Russian ambassadors 7 year term ended.

Charge d affair takes over till new ambassador arrives.

That's all.

John Ratcliffe flying into Moscow & being turfed out after just 30 minutes mirrors the pre cursor to the Russian/Ukraine war starting, I think we're about to see Russia react to the constant bear poking by UK/NATO

I'd guess something is going to happen with Poland, but I'd recommend you guys staying well away from energy/military infrastructure for a while just in case, Russia has been sailing some it's warships just off the coast of Britain unimpeded since we boarded the Smyrtos off the coast of the Isle of Wight.

Putin is the moderate & is surrounded by people insanely hard line than he is & politically he needs to offer up a bit of red meat.
Britain has zero defence against Russia's hypersonic missiles.

It's crazy.

But getting to this position has had much support from pretty much everyone with influence.....all the political parties and the media.

It's like covid....they are all convinced that it's the right thing.

He was in Russia for about 9 hours, the US purposefully keeps any visits short because they ask the Ukrainians to minimize attacks on Moscow during visits and they don't want to take advantage of the Ukrainians willingness to support the request.

Poland is not the European country for Russia to play with. Not only has Poland invested billions in defense over the last decade, Karol Nawrocki is one of the few European leaders that Trump actually gets along with. When Trump wanted to pull out a brigade a few months ago, Nawrocki made a call and Trump backed off.

The Russian Navy's surface vessels are a joke, they are more of a hazard to Russian sailors then they are to anyone else. Sending a random frigate/destroyer on a lone cruise isn't really impressive.

Britain's defense against Russian hypersonics would be completely naval as their British Army's lack of investment has kept them away from Patriot and other systems. That being said, those hypersonics would have a long way to go if coming from Russian territory that they would need to get through and a Russian vessel firing them would have a short shelf life afterwards.

I think they just followed the general consensus.
Pop stars making videos of "standing with Ukraine"
Boris Johnson returning from Kiev with 12 crates of vodka, pledging UK support.
Then energy prices rose sharply, as did the grocery bills.
It is a useful marketing tool for weapons tests in-the-field for western arms companies. And a big source of revenue

The entire conversation was created by you. I only ever commented on the battlefield. The rest was made up by you.

If you think that it was about pushing NATO back and that's victory then you aren't even right there, because that's not the prime objective, and if it were, then it is definitely a loss because Finland immediately joined NATO when they invaded therefore moving the NATO border 100s of miles closer. They also lost in Syria therefore losing influence on that NATO border with Turkey, plus, Poland have now armed themselves to the teeth.

They wanted all of Ukraine, they got the territory they have mostly through cloak and dagger, not by battle

You'll have to forgive me, on the amount of time he spent in Russia, I just became a dad for the 2nd time two weeks ago & I'm surviving at best on a couple of hours sleep a night.

Poland has done a lot to improve it's military, I'm actually a big fan of it's civil defence force & wish Britain could emulate that but it's nigh on impossible in a low trust society like Britain.
Poland does lack combat experience & it's armor is a bit of a Hodge Podge of equipment they've snapped up all over the place, this puts a considerable strain on logistics.

The point im making about how this mirrors what happened before the war is the US warned Russia there would be consequences & Russia ignored this & carried on anyways.

You can call Russian ships whatever you like, we have nothing.

There is no defence against hypersonics, they take 15 minutes to reach London if launched from Kalinograd, by the time our early warning system has calculated it's heading for London it's likely nearer 10 minutes.
Let's ignore London for a minute we would have roughly 10 minutes for useless idiot Andy Burnham to green light retaliatory strikes before Flyingdales is wiped off the map & the majority of our conventional ballistic sites are hammered hard, I'm not even talking about nukes.

I don't think any of our allies would come to save us, but like I say my gut says Russia will target Poland with something.
