Mateta Contract

* Lose 2 - 0 to Everton.
* Sarr doesn't play, potentially feigning injury to force a move
* Riad gets injured and appears out for a long time (again)
* Mateta makes some ludicrous claim about his contract because he wants out (I expect a call from Forest).

It hasn't been a good day.
 
He hasn’t wanted to be here for some time. If Strand Larrson didn’t come with question marks, pretty sure we would have sold him at the beginning of the window. Now he is an obvious problem. Makes you wonder why we support some of these guys, his contract is binding ,if he had anything about him , ask for a transfer .
 
Should never have been welcomed back after the Milan move fell through. Wormed his way back in, got his World Cup dream although he didn't play, and then does this to us once again. We are left with egg on our face. We haven't replaced Lacroix. Sarr wants to leave and is playing the typical 'I've got an injury' the day before our first game. We have great depth, but that's only if we keep our first-team players. If the depth signing becomes our first team due to selling Mateta, Sarr and Lacroix, then we are worse off than before and still have no depth. What an awful day for us. Add to the fact Riad looks to be out for a long time aswell.

Totally agree. I love Mateta and what he has done for us…… but if he wants to leave so badly then I think we have to let him go.

I do think we treated him badly though. Should have signed him on a new deal two years ago. You can’t blame him for being pissed off when he’s scored all the goals but earns far less than those who contribute nothing.

They don't care.

At the end of the day it's a business and the player is the product.

The other way to describe them is mercenaries which is what they are.

Clubs are no better.

The fans are the only ones which have mostly stayed loyal.

How did we treat him badly we offered him multi deals over multi years he has declined them believing he was worth more and then wanted to move to a bigger club.

The guy was useless when he came in and we could have done like we did with others but kept him around and the he was given a chance.

Do you know what his contract is? or the offers he had I don't believe you do.

Most of Palaces players if the math is correct by looking at the books are on around 70k per week or less with not even a handful on a bit more (this does not include bonuses)

Do you believe a 29 year old who misses lots of chances should be the highest earner around 120-130k plus get big bonuses on top?
