Palace team vs SC Freiburg

I am relieved that Sage recognises we are not ready. An honest, realistic assessment

After yesterday's performance, I was interested to hear Pierre say not only that the team wasn't ready but that he would readjust the system back to last season's one (Glasnerball in effect) whilst the coaching staff gradually get the players accustomed to his own system.

It would definitely be the sensible thing to do because if we play like we have today in the Premier League then we'll get killed!

CB for the middle of the back 3 desperately needed who can lead... especially if Hendo is out for any amount of time as I don't think any of the current back 3 are big talkers/organisers.

Then another CM with box to box athleticism is desperately needed. If these two come in then we should have a decent season albeit I think with a pretty slow and nervy start.

Yep very interesting and tactically refreshing.

It took them a while to adapt to Glasners way, so Sage was never going to crack it in a post WC preseason.

Yup I know Paphos. I think I said I was at Atlantica golden beach.
Geez 6 days and counting. If I was to move abroad I think it wouldn’t be hard to live there. Are house’s expensive Steve
Depends what you're looking. Compared to the UK you get a better bang for your buck. Plus in my opinion Paphos would be the worst place on the island to live. I've lived in Cyprus for 19 years and trust me it is the best decision I ever made. But I could never live in Paphos. I live in a place called Lefkara and it is absolutely perfect. If you make the decision, make sure you check out other places in the island before deciding on Paphos.

So, we have a week to readjust. Well, that should work, shouldn’t it? I don’t think I’ve been so concerned for a start of a season as I am now. We have looked so out of place in every friendly so far :-( Just look at other prem teams friendly results compared to us this weekend

He's only got a few weeks to get them able to understand and play his new system to Premier League standard as once the Europa League games start there is only time for game preparation, the games, recovery from the games and preparation for the next one

But he is taking a pragmatic approach and is adaptable so that is in his favour

Everton are one of those teams I dislike and we never seem to get fair treatment from the ref at their place. Maybe that's sour grapes anyway I will be very surprised if we get anything from this game.

He sounds fed up and frustrated to me. Not a motivational speaker and unfortunately he does not speak English as well as Glasner.

I just hope he can generate more lively encouragement in the players than he does in me. Not impressed by him yet.

From the first interview I heard of his I thought he doesn’t exactly fill you full of confidence. He doesn’t come across as the sort of personality that the players are going to give their all for when they’re out on the pitch.
I know 100% commitment should be a minimum, but that extra bit of fire in their bellies and that willingness to die for the shirt coming from the sheer force of nature and personality of your manager might be a tad lacking with this fella

On reflection Palace looked like a team not grasping the tactics they were supposed to be playing to. Sage, confirms. We all wish Palace well, but this has to be worrying.

TBH - I get selling Munoz - he’s 29 with 2 years left on his contract - if we can get decent money for him then fair enough - now is the time to cash in.

Don’t see him going to Everton - why - they’re the same level as us.

Think you’ll find he’ll go somewhere in Europe.

Suggest that’s what the Khalaïli signing is all about - and he’s much younger and looks decent. If that’s the case good business.

But now Steve you’ll have money from Lacroix and Munoz - start doing the do and get in
2 quality CB’s - Le Guen and Matsima..?? Personally I’d go Bisseck and Le Guen.

Then a CDM Kees Smit (Keith Smith)..!!

We’ll have the money just do it Steve..!!

COYP
After watching the last game in Germany there needs an attacking spark in the team not CBs

We had 7 corners , keeper got 6 easy ones & Canvot got 1

Didn’t see much running at the opposition more triangle passes.

Sarr,SL & McNeill very under par - match fitness will be key 5 games in.

But come Jan if we have only scored 10 then money needs to be placed for creative running players

Tally ho , jobs a goodun , Europa here we come
