it is madness to get today's generation 'on the hook' for the sins of the father. Today's kids in a creche in the UK are no more responsible for The Great Hunger in Ireland than the man on the moon.

Great Britain was a fairly amazing and successful thing. Albeit with many flaws and sins. Lets let Queen Victoria lie. She only really now casts a shadow over the World Cup and goals scored per club.

Not reazlly, Brown paid off UK debt with the proceeds to reduce spending on debt interest, part of it was a final payment on the North American post-war loan.

Bank of England Independence though was a serious mistake in my opinion.

the decline and fall of the UK will continue unabated. The Peak was the 1840's and you cannot really blame Thatcher for a trainwreck she inherited.

the 'workshop of the World' has become 'the Fall of Rome' , of the fall of Spain after its golden age, or 1990 Yugoslavia & sectarian nightmares,

i predict things will get worse before they get better.

As Rome was falling it gave the World Christianity. As the UK falls it gives the World the English Language.
