Wilfried Zaha

Its not about disliking Zaha. He needed Palace as much as we needed him at the time, Palace made him the main man, which played to his ego and he performed, only occasionally towards the end. Since he left, where he wasn't considered the main man, he has struggled to fit into any team, he has been at.
Leave the past behind, Palace has moved on, time he did. His Facebook video was rather sad and desperate.
Absolutely agree. It would be crazy to dislike Wilf after all he did, but it would be sentiment over sense to sign him again now.

My sentiment might cloud my sense though if he was saying he was desperate to play any role for the club he loves etc. I just can’t see it.

Was a decent player.
Not in my top 10 Palace players though, in fact I don’t think he’s in my top ten Palace forward players. No interest in signing him now, he was borderline good enough for the first team when he left, ages ago.

All about opinions of course but what are you smoking Cas? The greatest ever all day long and I go back almost 60 years watching....just my opinion though😂 Would love to see Wilf as a 70th min impact sub. May not have the speed but still got the magic

I have my doubts on that. Your evidence for that statement from his recent couple of seasons?

If I thought for one moment he’d return with a different attitude, accepting a sensible salary, and a role mainly as a substitute, I’d go for it. But that’s so unlikely.

I think he's less than 10 goals away from scoring 100 Palace goals.
Would I like to see him score those goals?
Yes, I would.

His attitude was because he cared for the club and that was part of his amazing talent. Will never see better imo. Without Wilf we wouldn't be where we are. THE GOAT

Imagine the buzz of Wilf coming on for the last few mins. He's still got the magic... watch reels
Trouble is we need more than the odd flash of brilliance and then go missing for the rest of the game now, which is what his last couple of years was like even at palace.
That last couple of seasons, I used to go home after games that were being shown live on TV and people would say to me ‘I thought Zaha was good, you hardly knew he was playing’ and I couldn’t really argue with them

It’s harsh, but he’s had his day, great for us in his prime and everyone loved him, but his time had come to an end and we would’ve been mad to have paid him £200k a week to stay imo

I can’t remember ever seeing a game where I ‘hardly knew he was playing’.

Last season our percentage goals from open play was 54%, only Leeds were worse.
Can anybody see this improving with our present 3 of Sarr, Mateta and Strand Larsen?

For that reason, I would sign Zaha, at least as a 'goto' sub.

No he wouldn't last a full game I agree but still got that bit of magic in him.

James Milner once said Zaha was the toughest opponent he'd ever faced. When he ran at players in his prime, they knew they had two options: foul him or watch him go past. Unfortunately, most chose the former and that, coupled with Wilf's temperament, saw him become increasingly agitated. At his peak, you could ignore his petulance, but in those final two seasons, as he lost his ability to explode past defenders, the focus on his complaining and moaning intensified, and I think a lot of us were happy to say goodbye as Olise and Eze took the limelight. The romantic in me would love to see one last dance, but in reality, if it didn't work (and it almost certainly wouldn't), then it could be hugely disruptive to the rest of the squad. Having said that, I will never forget that at the height of his powers, there has never been a player at Palace whom you believed more in to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, to get a goal from nothing, to get you up on your feet screaming "Come on you Palace!". To my mind, the Palace GOAT. Build the statue.

I'm never quite sure why people want statues of players as they are invariably an embarrasment
