Evann Guessand

I’ve always had a soft spot for him as a player when he was on the pitch. He might not necessarily be a superstar, but he’s often pulled off some surprising moves. I’d be happy to have him back with us and I think he’d be a good addition who brings something a bit different to the table.
Agree, he's a bit inconsistent but does bring something different.

As a loan i'd definitely see this as a positive move. Not sure a perm deal is as attractive as i can't see him being a regular starter.

Getting injured last time didn't help his case. We should remember that we were in for him before he moved to Villa and presumably we think he's still worth another trial. He's the type who'll get stuck in and I reckon he might fit Sage's version of 3-4-3 or 3-4-2-1 better than Glasner's. Also, it's another player for the squad who we know can contribute even if not consistently yet. As a loan, he's also a cheap short term option if money isn't available for a purchase given our other apparent irons in the fire.

He was brought in to bolster the squad for the Conference , run in. When he wasn’t injured he was a useful sub, always remember how he opened Brighton up and put Sar, in . Nothings changed , four competitions will take a squad a least as big as the one we finished with. Top quality players won’t play the roll, and we can’t afford them anyway, so get him in.

Is this a case of better the devil you know this transfer doesn’t really excite me would I been happy if he starts week in week out no! But with need a bigger squad so just happy to get another body on board

Perhaps I'm missing something, but to me he has looked average at best.

He looks the part as he's a physical unit, but he looked sluggish to me with no burst of pace or demonstration of power.

Furthermore, what's his position?
He doesn't look to be a winger, striker or midfield player?
Perhaps a 'number 10' , but he would maybe need to demonstrate more dynamism and athleticism.
A back up 10 for Sarr and Pino for sure for European games and injuries and when we’re chasing a game. We need a player who can unlock teams as well. It’s a Yes for me.

Indeed, we need 4/5 wide forwards. Would certainly rather have Guessand then have to rely on one of the kids

I think this will happen, we need to remember all that Thursday and Sunday football what it did for us through the autumn and winter with our very small squad. There needs to be a lesson learned here!
Exactly this. He may not be in our first XI but if Pino Sarr and Mateta are our first choice we need to be able to rotate fully without dropping the quality or experience too much. McNeill, Strand-Larsen and Guessand give us that option. Franca JRS, Esse or Drakes Thomas (at least at present) do not.

He would've started the final ahead of pino had he not been injured. He had taken his place in the side and was hitting form especially against fiorentina.

He also did his best to come back ahead of schedule and looked happy to be here (unlike a certain everton player).

Compared to that particular player Alan Mullery would be doing cartwheels round Selhurst.

He's a lot more physical than any of our other wide players. The key will be adapting to the pace of the PL, which is something a lot of players struggle with in their first season. I concur with those who think he can be an asset, even if he isn't starting regularly.

It has been well documented that I have not been impressed with Guessand playing for both A.Villa and ourselves.
My view echoes those of the A.Villa supporters who have been critical of his performances.
All entitled to their opinions, but just curious if you have ever been impressed by any of our signings over the years??
