Johnson, McNeil

I always liked O'Neill at Burnley, both players had it and have lost it, if someone can do with either of these two what Neil Warnock did with Darren Ambrose then they'll have some player, maybe someone should give Colin a call, many a true word spoken in jest.
 
I’d rather swap him for the ex player who went to Cambridge after eating 35 Marathon ( snickers ) bars in 30 days

It worries me if McNeills deal falls through for a 2nd time just imagine his missus will be full of scorn & distaste for us supporters

But then again if he does join will she get discounts at pound land on church street for last seasons mishap ?

Sure the other Wags are gonna love her on nights out at the George she will fit in. For sure

It’s called humour Lanzo as appreciated by another poster. But you wouldn’t understand that.
And I might have only been on here for a month but at least I haven’t been reduced to trolling others.

Meanwhile… back on topic, Romano reckons both are having respective medicals today after the clubs reached a “compromise” on valuations. Hopefully that means we got some cash along with McNeil. Whoever does out medicals will presumably start the conversation with “and how have you been since I last saw you?”.
 
It looks as though its a simple swap deal. I know we appear to have lost out, but :

- We were never going to get the £35m back. Even if we'd been able to offload him to another Club, we wouldn't have got that sort of money.
- His wages were reported to be over £100k and McNeil's £60k so we get a more expensive player off the books
- McNeil offers something quite different to what we have. Predominantly left footed, offering more width and more variety of set pieces.

As an aside, I don't think I have ever seen a player look more 'lost' than Johnson did at Palace. He appeared not to know what to do in any given situation.

Oh is that what it is, was calling me an Idiot for my opinion also humour, every fan has different opinions, without using insults.
 
Obviously not a great buy and you’ve got to wonder whether there is more to the story ? Dressing room issues .

BUT , better to recognise the issue and move on quickly.

Not a typical SP so there’s more going on behind the scenes.

It may simply come down to realising they need a couple more players in and to get the salary cap down to meet the regs someone needed to go , and BJ moving was the best way to create salary cap room .

we all know we are not paying that much for him. With one year left of his contract he's probably worth £10m, maybe £15m tops and so that's essentially what Johnson is now worth.

Having watched him surely no one can argue we've overpaid by at least double his value.

Also don't forget Johnson's silly wages. Everton will have to pay similar so they will adjust their transfer value accordingly.
 
This comes across as such a bad deal that it's almost amusing.

35 million we wasted on that lad.....Not three, not five.....35 fecking million.

His replacement isn't even worth twenty million....especially with one year left.

Lord almighty.
 
I think we just have to look at the big picture. A very expensive player who has looked no better than any number of our academy players is off the books.

We’ve brought in a player who has been a long term target because he brings something we have been missing. Shots on target from outside the box and precision crosses.

If it also frees up money to bring in additional players then I can see it making sense - just try not to think of the £20 million quid (on paper) we’ve lost!
