Evann Guessand

I liked him. Admittedly don't get to watch much football but from what I saw he seemed to offer something a bit different when games went flat. It's not my money that we'd have to spend so I'm not going to start worrying about how much we should pay, but if we do bring him back I'd be happy with it.

As a loan it would be fine. As a permanent transfer not so sure. Did ok when here but nothing more and we are well (over) stocked in his position. Would rather we used any funds for centre half and more depth in centre midfield.

Not for me, even at a reduced price. He's another of those 'Theres a player in their somewhere' players.

What that usually means is that he hasn't performed well enough for long enough.

Even if there is talent there (and I'm not convinced) we can't go into the season with so many conundrums and mysteries in the squad. We need reliable performers.

From what I’ve read/heard his heart isn’t in it at the Villa - doesn’t want to be there and isn’t giving 100% in training. This is a bit of a red flag - especially where millions of pounds are involved!
But, If this’s means we can avoid a big transfer fee (£28 million would have been nuts) and secure another loan then I think it’s a bit of a no brainer - as he already knows and likes the set up (by some accounts was expecting his loan to be made permanent) and MAY be motivated to impress.

He did prove to be decent in our Europa exploits last season.

I thought we might go back for him when the nonsense of the £28 M option had faded in the memory . Decent enough player to have around the fringes of the squad but Villa need to be realistic about his value which is about half of what they paid .
Absolutely, he’s nothing better than a squad filler at this level which imo is the £10m - £15m range.

It was the Conference League where the competition was by-and-large League 1 standard so not relevant this year
I imagine he was in the conversation when the plan was to ship out Franca, Esse, JRS and with Matata leaving we needed replacements. The first and fourth of that group now seem more likely to stay but Johnson could be gone. I'd still rather look elsewhere

That did not stop players of premier standard playing at L1 standards in that competition.

That guesand and pino behaved very well in that competition and will likely do well in the Europa supports loaning him again.

I would hope they behaved well - they are not Argentinian! I'm not aware that Villa plan to loan him again
