Johnson, McNeil

What is it about a possible swap deal that makes it complicated?

Surely if a value is agreed for each player then they buy Johnson for his agreed value, less the agreed value of McNeill? Player contracts thereafter are between the players and thier new clubs?

Whoever is presiding over the deal (UEFA) needs to agree that the values set for each respective player are in line with realistic numbers (not artificially inflated) as a means to distort either clubs PSR / SCR numbers.

Perhaps, the complication arises around one club wanting the deal to be a loan or even both clubs do but with different conditions re the obligation to buy. In any event, I don't see Everton being willing to buy Johnson other than on a try before you buy basis.
Well, we can't have that. Once they've tried Johnson, they certainly won't buy him!

You can’t base opinion purely on the forums as it is anecdotal and open to bias. He had a lacklustre last season but if you asked Everton fans after he scored 2 against Palace you would have had a different answer
Their comments on him are similar to what we are saying on here about Johnson and are spread over a longer period of time. And of course the fans who post are biased. We all are, surely?

I’ve been thinking all morning what to say/comment on this thread. It’s always nice to contribute something- even if it’s a little controversial!

However, TBH, nothing springs to mind as I’m not sure who benefits and who doesn’t from this swap proposal?!

Really hoping this happens as McNeil surely cannot be worse than Johnson who, for the money we spent on him has to go down as one of our worst ever signings.

Had a look at some comments on Instagram from Everton fans.. Alot of them seem to think they're getting a quality winger in Johnson who has 'lots of pace' apparently... My word they're in for a shock if this happens 😂😂

Probably them in as much as they're replacing a player in the last year of his contract and IF Moyes can get a tune out of Johnson he could do a job for them.

I think we’ll have definitely lost out from when we signed him as in he cost £35 million, but NOW, I think we’d all like to cut our loses and give someone else a go
