I've never agreed with booing players nor heckling them during a game but anti-Johnson feeling seems to be reaching fever pitch. For his own sake as well as Palace a move seems the most sensible option. Maybe a season long loan with an option to buy might be the answer? Gets him off the wage bill for a while and lets face it no one is going to pay even close to what we paid if we were to sell him now.

Heckling was a part of football in the 70s and 80s, now sadly gone out of fashion. Booing players like Bason, Stebbing, Aylott , Barber, Pardew and Zohar was a way of letting off steam after a week at work. Tough on the players concerned but hey ho !

Yes of course. But if you went to the games in the late 80s and early 90s for all his efforts AP was a poor player and took fearful stick from the fans. That’s just the way it was back then.

Us Palace fans are not as brutal as others. At least Johnson hasnt been booed or jeered from the stands. But what a terribly expensive flop he has been. He even makes Nketiah look like a good signing in comparison. I wonder who at Palace was pushing to get the signing over the line.
If the swap with Dwight McNeil goes ahead, it will value Johnson at £20m, as that was apparently the figure Palace would have paid for the failed transfer in Jan.

I went to a lot of games around that time and although i was young i remember barber and pardew did used to get a fair bit of grief from the crowd.

I thought Barber did ok, cant remember any booing, he grafted every game. Mind you ve never been one to boo one of our own players. Its totally self defeating whether its 1980 or 2026
