Incredibly thick. Britain improved the quality of life across India through real investment in infrastructure, governance and rule of law. She is here living a life of luxury thanks to that, and off America, then spouts this crap. She should have her tongue removed.

The origins of 'woke' culture go far back depending upon what you want to include.
However, in the modern context the reason why it exploded in the early 2010s is all elite theory.
Wall Street.....or to be more exact.
Occupy Wall Street.
That completely terrified the oligarchs. Their response to the attack on them due to to 2008's wealth transfers and increased wealth disparity was to identify with the progressive version of identity politics and thus buy them off.....They massively funded their movements.
It worked like a charm.
The George Floyd death was another driver for their investment....lots of it going to corrupt individuals.
The whole idiotic situation creating huge investments in a DEI parasitic industry that burdens business with useless and activist employees who collectively cost large amounts along with expanded HR departments with large numbers of 'make busy' jobs.....All while the west's competitors laugh at this self harming and gain on us as a consequence.

He wont be the first person to have lied about his achievements. Comparing this article from the BBC with the rest of the media they have toned down his "errors". I guess they didn't have enough room to include the 3 prestigious universities that have publicly denied any connection to him working there or the Charity WaterAid which has done likewise. And their are many more.
People in power who are liars get away with stuff because others are too scared to call them out (See Trump, Mandelson, Archer etc.)

He wont be the first person to have lied about his achievements. Comparing this article from the BBC with the rest of the media they have toned down his "errors". I guess they didn't have enough room to include the 3 prestigious universities that have publicly denied any connection to him working there or the Charity WaterAid which has done likewise. And their are many more.
People in power who are liars get away with stuff because others are too scared to call them out (See Trump, Mandelson, Archer etc.)
It's part of the general decline the west is suffering....the left have a significant part of the responsibility for this (though not all as the Tories/GOP for example went along with a fair amount) because they value 'diversity' and DEI (as did Cameron) over merit and lie to themselves or actually believe that all differences between people are because of 'structural' this or that......pure brain rot.
When you look at videos of Cambridge professors praising this guy to his face, you understand just how little rigor actually means to top management at these esteemed institutions. What seems to matter more to them is consensus and defending their ideology. The very idea that you can lie yourself into a professorship makes a mockery of the whole system.
It's very worrying.....this liar was in sociology...which while it has some insights isn't what I'd call a science relative to the big hitters.... but if this kind of decline moves into maths and disciplines like architecture then that's when buildings and bridges fall down.
The left often mock the right about us wanting to go back to the 50s.....it's never been true.....but you know what when it comes to academic rigor.....Yeah, we do need to go back to more rigorous times.
The damage done to Cambridge's reputation internationally is probably permanent......They will probably only care about the money aspect of that....But that's part of the problem, Cambridge should mean much more than that.
It's funny for a while then all will be forgotten, Cambridge still has unequalled bragging rights in Asia particularly China. I think any student " taught " by this fraudulent grifter should get a full refund of fees

Look how the BBC have framed it as a racist witch-hunt and a victim. The man is a fraud yet they quoted all of his excuses whilst positioning his accuser as a racist, with a racist motive.
Agreed. There are lots of fuzzy topics which allow University staff to avoid those rigours. If you produce a maths thesis you should expect your peers to critique your solutions. On the other hand Professor of racism or feminisation they are very woolly topics, subjective and often controversial. Very few academics will challenge poor research and bad assumptions e.g. BS.
It must be annoying for the ones that do the hard slog and their work can stand up to peer review to be in the same bucket as the lazy "blame white males, imperialism, racism, sexism" brigade.

I can understand when the Mail or the Sun go full on after a lefty how some might deny the allegations as a political / racist witch hunt.
But when it's that notorious tabloid The Time Educational Supplement and also the Guardian you would think they might stop and think about that.
It's no disgrace to be fooled by someone and of course this is the real story. This gentleman has damaged the reputation of Cambridge but "may" also impact the reputation of other serious black scholars "they are just the DEI hire".
I just hope those that have been vociferous in his support just apologise and make that point. He has financially profited from his lies and denied somebody more qualified the opportunity of well paid prestigious job.
