If we were to be out of Europe by Jan then perhaps we have a bit of a war chest? Is this the reason we’re not spending??

The UEFA SCRs applied to us last year. I suspect it's more the January panic splurge that's restricting us more.Is this the reason we’re not spending??

I suspect many supporters are of a similar mindset. If we were to be out of Europe by Jan then perhaps we have a bit of a war chest?
Not hoping for that it’s just a thought.
Gives the kids a chance u til January at least.
My ambition is staying up and hopefully plenty of entertainment until the main stand is built

We can spend up to £120m on players this window, subject to owners putting their hands in their pockets. Is this the reason we’re not spending??

Same as villa for the past few years!!Looks like it, basically feels like we’re being punished for being in Europe

Agreed! The cashflow forecasting alone must be mind boggling with new spending regimes. It does bring to mind the other thread on "can you have a Five Year Plan?". I am not sure how you can unless you are at either end of the success spectrum (challenging for major honours every year; or Burnley).A lot may disagree, but i am happy Steve is in charge of the club.

Says who? and on what basis can owners put their hands in their pockets given the regulations? If owners can put their hands in their pockets why are Newcastle struggling? We can spend up to £120m on players this window, subject to owners putting their hands in their pockets.
So we can spend, but if the plan is to strengthen the squad with 4 players, then £100m wont go far. We have apparently bid €10m upfront with add ons for the Torino kid who was valued at €3m.
it will be free agents or kids who we take a punt on and hope they come good and go up in value.

Panic buying given the alarming winter slump, the FA Cup embarrassment and the belief that Mateta was leaving. It makes it all the more mind boggling that we spent those sums in January. Did we just leave a kid on work experience in charge for the month. It just seems utterly ridiculous that we just decided to splurge a huge % of our transfer budget on two distinctly average players. One of whom I think will even struggle to get into match day squads for us next season.

These are not new rules. 9 of the PL are the same restrictions. Spurs are benefiting from large revenue and no Europe. It is a strange rule that effectively penalises successIs this the reason we’re not spending??
