Takehiro Tomiyasu

As long as he doesn’t break down at the first hurdle he could prove perfect for a limited minute , rotation player. With his injury history he is probably happy to accept that, where as fully fit players might not. If the quality is still there it could be a good arrangement with so many games to cover.

If the March rumour is true then these ("free") signings are saying a lot about our transfer budget (or lack of). Is the Lacroix money required to balance the January splurge or as stage payments for the new stand or what?

Of course it could be that March will simply be an experienced replacement for Esse or JRS and we can put him straight into the 1st team squad.

Has had serious knee injuries over the last 2 years and only featured in 4 games for Brighton last season all from the bench, 3 of which were from the 86th minute onwards !

He has had a terrible injury record in.the last couple of seasons.
Prior to that he had a very good season , scored plenty of goals and was in England contention.
There have to be doubts that he could recover this form although he does have quailty and is versatile in being able to play in a few positions.
He could be a low cost option, but I can't help wishing we were aiming a little higher.

If he wasn't an injury concern, he would be playing for one of the major clubs on a higher salary.

I'm all about taking the low risk, high reward players, especially when we have a couple of holes that need to be filled and not a lot of time to fill them.

The fall is going to be an audition and test run for him. If he produces and stays healthy then great, if he doesn't then we are probably picking up his replacement in January.

Naturally hope this works out for us and him but it highlights a problem with the Premier League that some clubs can spend £250 m + while others are dealing in free transfers, knackered or injured players, unknown quantities who might work out and promising young players who won't sign without a release clause.
It feels as though the money clubs are overspending to drive up the general prices and keep competition to a minimum.

The money is a double edged sword, the PL become a global monster in the 2000s because the disgustingly wealthy became owners so the best players stayed/came instead of going to the other major leagues across Europe. It also created a massive have/have not system where the top tier compete against themselves (with the rare intrusion by another club) while everyone else competes for 7-20.

The issue will be that once the PL solves the issue and makes it more "fair" league you will see the money take off for leagues that offer greater ability to manipulate the system for wins and another league will take over as the top league until they fall as well when they fix their problems.
