Trepidation for the 26/27 Prem season ?

Keep hearing unproven alot , Max , Munoz , Wharton , Kamada , plus sold Eze and Olise all haven't played in prem until they come to us , I may have missed a couple , so unproven isn't a justified statement ,

in support of Willo i think he is a realistic and says it as it is.

Yes it can come across slightly negatively, but i've supported Palace for 50 years and my approach is to always expect the worst but enjoy the good moments.

Incidentally, with Burnley relegated i think we now have the 3rd smallest stadium in the Prem.

No. Just ahead of Hull with Brentford and Bournemouth well behind. It just shows that you don’t have to have a massive stadium to be in Europe!😀

Feel sorry for the people who have to sit around you at Selhurst. Moaning and whinging all game I’d wager albeit with a rhetorical flourish!
 
For a club like ours, I always think a new manager should start with a period of consolidation; stay where you are initially, before kicking on. After the glory of the past 2 seasons, and the following slow unpicking of our squad, I think this is sensible. Stay in the division, compete in europe, and ideally one of the domestic cups.
Next season, Europe beckons once more, and with the squad issues that were exposed Last year, we're baulking up the squad with some Free's, of fairly decent quality, so we should see some rotation.
I expect us to spend the lacroix money strengthening out 1st 11 - I'm a little concerned on the lack of attacking prospects but then we spent heaviliy on that area in January. we need BJ and JSL to step up. Another AM or CF would be nice, especially if a huge offer comes in for someone like Sarr.
 
I also belong in the glass half empty camp, or shall I admit to actually qualifying as a „negative sod“. For those not yet old enough, it results from following our beloved CP for nearly my 60 years. There have been good times and the last 12, especially the last 2 have bordered upon unbelievably good. Which is why I always expect things to implode. It’s also the usual transfer window stuff whereby the op players are sold, mostly because they want to go, and securing suitable replacements just takes, well, for ever. Is our squad strong currently? Probably not, in depth. Will we be able to strengthen? The days are ticking by. And then there is Wharton? I really would like to see my glass filling up but I remain very nervous

I sit near Willo.
He has an bobble hat, scarf and an old fashioned wooden rattle and on occasions shouts, 'Up the Glaziers,' in between munching on boiled sweets.
He's the model of decorum - most of the time.

True but once the redevelopment is done won't we be in the top 10? I know it's a few years away but it's much needed progress.

Weirdly since Tony Pullis took over I have not really had concerns about Palace being relegated from them Prem. Probably blind optimism. Even when we lost the first 7 games under Frank/Roy I was confident we would get out of the situation (we were only a few points adrift even then).

I have always had confidence we have enough players who give 100% that we would end up safe and that there were enough rubbish teams in the league that we would be okay. Each season I count down the league wins until we hit 10 which 99% of the time guarantees safety (with draws usually matching that number). 10 wins out of 38 is not hard to achieve.

As time has gone on the chances of not getting relegated has increased, due to the quality of the squad and the divide between the promoted teams and everyone else. I still think it will be the same this season. Hull, Coventry and Ipswich will struggle. One of them might surprise people but then another team or two from the rest of the mid table lot will have a bad season (Bournemouth, Sunderland, Leeds, Brentford, Fulham, Forest, Brighton). If all three of Wharton, Sarr and Mateta get sold then my views may change.

Outside of the "Big 6" (that includes Spurs), Everton are the only team who have been in the league longer than Palace. Times are very good (the Mark Goldberg / Simon Jordan era was awful). I am still looking forward to the first Europa league campaign no matter what our league form is.

No. we'd be 12th based on the current PL grounds. It would have been 13th had Spammers stayed up. Our new capacity would take us above:
Brighton
Coventry
Ipswich
Forest

We're currently ahead of four clubs
Bournemouth
Brentford
Fulham
Hull

Fulham have a capacity of nearly 30k as their new stand is open. When all their changes are completed it is expected to be 31k plus how many are in their Michelin restaurant and swimming pool!
