Reform

Neo-liberalism, self-interest, has not benefited society and has created economic stagnation inequality and poverty.

I would take the sixties back in a heartbeat, how have we lost so much.

I think Bank of England Independence has driven neo-liberalist policies creating unemployment and inequality, and was an even more significant mistake than brexit.

😎

What don't you understand? If you voted for the Liberals, or similar, you only have yourself to blame.
Please elaborate on how you think a constant right wing nationalist government would have us in any better a position during the period you have in mind. Which policies and how would they have made us stronger/better?

I am hoping for sensible debate on this, not some glib side-step answer e.g. it could not be any worse.

A genuine, constant, Right Wing Nationalist Government would not have allowed mass-migration into the country. The problem is that we have never had a genuine Right Wing Nationalist Government in power.

As Far Rightist, I actually now hate the Tories far more than I do Labour because they pretended to be Right Wing and Nationalist and yet allowed far more migrants into this country than Labour ever had. In fact you could actually make a reasonably solid case for Labour actually being far more 'Right Wing' in immigration than the Tories have ever been in the last 20 or so years.

Which period? Hugely lower immigration numbers, support for businesses growing the economy, a proper Brexit, less devolution, lower taxes, some real law and order, far less benefits abuse, restrictions on Union abuses of power, tougher action against Islamic extremism, women standing silently in public street would not be arrested, bakers could tell unwelcome orders to f-off, men claiming to be women would not have access to womens' spaces, children would not be subject to genital mutilation. (A couple of minor favourites of mine would have been that the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, given to Stonewall would not have happened. African terrorists would not be honoured on the 4th plinth.)
These are initial thoughts, could no doubt expand the list.

See the police have said no charges against Polanski! Excellent. I have zero love for Farage or Reform but decisions like this (which are actually probably the correct one) send 10,000's of people further right and believing that the system actively hates them.

A definite win.

Sadly true.

Who to vote for?

When the party I have voted for in the past is also drifting that way and who are so desperate for attention that their leader has to bungee jumps in speedos...

OK, not that... yet.

But small wonder voters are drifting towards... anybody.

A generation ago, if a populist nationalist gave the us v the establishment speech flanked by the flag of the union on either side, for the limited attention such a stunt would have garnered there would only be widespread ridicule. Now, there are many people so in hock to his tosh due a dearth of alternatives that they have bought into it.

Where did it all go wrong?

When people like JRM became respected instead of just bullied.

He's an analogy for any mental patient, fatso, whore, psycho or any weirdo that we used to shame or bully, now we don't.

What I was thinking. Ann has also been made a bit of a martyr because of the aftermath, plus Berlin.

Absoultely. The Establishment is the best recruiting operation we could ever have hoped for. This notion of a two-tier justice system is really hitting home with so many people now and decisions like this only reinforce it. This is the issue that really winds people up the most and one I urge everybody to constantly hammer home when talking with normies. Not in an over-the-top (less is more is my mantra) way but just prodding them into accepting it. Because it's impossible to deny. And when they do try to deny it, that make such a fist of it that it just helps even more.

If anybody is ever wavering on this, just tell them to look up Ricky Jones. Never fails to change their opinion. The goto example, every time.

Oh yeah, slit throat himself, let off whilst Lucy Connelly and similar English who care are banged up on a first ever offence, which was never an offence

Why not compare online posters to a genocidal maniac? It's obviously a viable comparison. What difference could there possibly be between writing on a website and being responsible for millions of deaths in the Holocaust and a world war?
Yes, Islamists are a far better fit.

They need to claim perennial victimhood. It’s all they have. Society is geared against them somehow.

Hang on....you're the geezer claiming to be standing to bullies because people are intimidated and worried about the discourse on here.

And then you say it's us being the victims?

Have you got victims on the brain Dan?

Are the victims in the room with you right now?

A real victim was Ann Widdlecombe, a 78 year old defenseless women.....not scared of words, which you are apparently protecting people against, but battered around the head until dead with a hammer by one of the far leftist tribe.

Very quick defensive mechanism there son.

Bullies are always the ones that hit out when cornered. Feel like they’re the victims when they’re the aggressors. It’s all standard 101 psychology.

So who are the ones that don't hit out when cornered then?

How are they the aggressors if they have been cornered?

Do you like corners Dan? Spend a lot of time on them do you?

There are several ways in which I think a right wing government would have benefited the country, and will do if we have one from now. The key ideas are a smaller state sector, emphasis on ambition and aspiration, a greater expectation for people to look after themselves, and a value placed on British heritage and tradition. Before anyone tries to claim it, this does not mean “everyone for him / herself”, it just means that we reverse the culture of people expecting to be looked after by the state instead of the state being a back-stop if they run into difficulty, and the associated growth of the cult of victimhood which has taken over our society.

I could write 10,000 words on it but won’t do so here. What I will immediately highlight is that we are in this situation for several key reasons.

Firstly the government (correctly in my view) paid vast fortunes to support the country through Covid. There is a massive price to pay, and we appear to have forgotten this.

Secondly we are massively over-generous with our welfare spending. Many elements of normal life have been medicalised and deemed worthy of financial support from the tax-payer, and on top of that we have increasingly sought to divorce people from having to deal with the impact of their own decisions (scrapping the 2 child cap on child benefit is a classic example, if you want more than 2 children make sure that you can pay for them yourself).

Thirdly we are not allowed to address public sector inefficiency. Public sector workers need to face the same requirement for productivity as their private sector counterparts, who won’t retain their jobs if they are not sensibly productive. This discipline is absent from the public sector.

Fourthly we have made profit a dirty, immoral concept, when it must be clear to any economist that capitalist societies are vastly wealthier than leftist ones. We need to create conditions which encourage enterprise and entrepreneurship. Strong economic growth will restore the government's finances far more effectively than anything else. The current government simply doesn't understand this.

Fifthly we have failed to deal with excessive and inappropriate immigration. Some immigration is beneficial, but it must be aimed at people who wish to come and work hard to get on, and whose values are aligned to fundamental British values, such as freedom, democracy and tolerance. Instead we have not only a large number of illegal immigrants claiming asylum, but also a substantial number whose attitudes and behaviours are divisive and / or are a burden on the country financially.

I don’t speak for all right-wingers, and I qualify these remarks by saying that we must ensure that prosperity is sensibly spread, that government involvement in essential services such as water is sensible, and that for the time being the money saved on welfare and efficiency needs to be refocused on health, education and security, not used for tax cuts.
