Lacroix

Sad to see him go still feel we was 20 mil shy of what he was really worth got to up our negotiation skills
Nobody knows what happens in these deals , to us it looks short , but we don't know what his contract was with us , plus I think Chelsea maybe giving us discount on one of there players if we want one ,

This makes me think we're taking our annual Chelsea bread crumb loan. Until he gets fed up with us and wants to go back to Chelsea reserves.

Think we are looking for permanent deal not loan from them , Chalobah maybe not same level , but started to look good for us before chelsea pulled the plug

Hobbs needs to be shown the door. We over pay for mediocre players yet sell our best on the cheap FFS. The guy had 3 years left on his contract !! Should have told Chelsea 60m at least or do one. Parish needs a kick up the arse as well for allowing this to go on.
We are now 2 CB down with no replacements in sight of the right calibre.
We also now have 3 strickers we paid around 110m for who couldn't find thier arses with 2 hands and a GPS let alone find the net.
I fear for the coming season

I can’t believe we haven’t secured a proper replacement before letting Lacroix leave.

So far our business has been pathetic with the man whose last team finished bottom.

Sort it out.

We have absolutely no idea what happens in transfer negociations. Players may be ademant that they are leaving (e.g. isak, guehi), there may be clauses we dont know about, etc. Some players are enticed to come to Palace because they know it is a stepping stone to better things. If the club prevented an ambitious player going we become less attractive. Lacrouix may have done a Guehi and seen out his contract and we get £0. Its a difficult balancing act. Olise had a clause, Guehi saw out his contract, Eze probably had a clause/agreement. The club have to do what they see as best. We dont know all the variables. The £s in/out are irrelevant as long as the club balance the books and keep refreshing the team.

Compared with Van Hecke from Brighton to Spurs - same age, same position, same transfer fee (£52m), Van Hecke had 1 year left on his contract, Lacroix had 3.

I don't know much about Van Hecke but can't imagine he's any better than Lacroix.

Feels like we've been shafted here. There must be something we don't know about - perhaps a release clause which was written into his original contract?

We have no idea what is happening in the background. They may have deals done/close we dont know about. Wait until the dust settles.
How long have you been a Palace fan? 😂

The first game I watched in person Gareth Southgate scored a penalty. He was a teenager in an end of season friendly at East Grinstead FC. I was 15, sat on a grass slope watching the game next to Ian Wright and his misses (who I didnt initially recognise). His leg was still strapped up in a bandage. It was a week before the 1990 FA cup final.

38 years. Use to the merrygoround. Only difference these days is the crazy sums paid for players.
Then you should be used to the farcical nature of our recruitment.

Esse, Franca, Johnson, Strand Larsen, Ahamada to name a few.
Far too many duds and too many quality players sold.
If this is book balancing then someone needs a word with themselves.

If reports are correct this deal was negotiated at ownership level. It’s not like Hobbs operates in a complete vacuum, especially on outgoings and fees. The ownership is heavily involved and has the final say on fees offered and fees received. It is fair to criticise Hobbs over recruitment as he is responsible for identifying players and attracting them to the club. Fees aren’t on him though nor is the decision to sell a marquee player
