Team v Famalicao

I do feel our club heavily markets these friendlies/competitions as something they are not. They give the impression that this is Palace on a preseason tour but it’s nothing more than our under 21 players and some fringe squad players having a kick about. My only concern is that they don’t even look like they want to break into the first team. These games are more likely deciding who is staying at the club and who is going out on loan and to what level.
Not sure how this style of over the top marketing, fills us with confidence moving into the new season.
Kick off in a mo - here we go again.

With 12 players at the World Cup what were you expecting to see during pre-season? It was obvious that most of our pre-season games would feature fringe squad players and the better Academy ones.

Having watched those two games my main observation is why are we playing three forwards so close together? It really didn’t help having no forward play out wide and in both matches the two in midfield had to much to do. I also thought the defenders weren’t close enough together and couldn’t find a player easily to pass to? In truth no one could hold onto a pass anyway and gave the ball away when they did get it constantly. I just hope the missing players when back aren’t being asked to play that formation or we will be in serious trouble :-(
