Palace Summer 2026 transfers?

The biggest concern fot me, is we seem to have no idea who to bring in, where's the planning or contingency? Brighton (sorry for swearing), or Bournemouth (much better example) already have a plan in place regarding who to bring in, for each position. Guehi went and we panicked, Max is off and we are linked with every CB out there (not sure what happened to Creswell), but none of them fill me with much reassurance.

We need someone assertive to make our transfer decisions and the best ones for us, its frustrating & it doesnt feel like thats the case at all. Disai isnt the answer imo (think Sakho when he joined us on loan) and replacing experienced players with inexperienced doesnt work & we will get exposed at some point. Time to bring back the Dougggge?

Did we?

I'd say we did the opposite. We already had Canvot up to speed and Riad was starting to get some games. Ultimately giving us the confidence to get 20m for Marc. I suspect Riad was the replacement plan all along, but injuries pushed that back a bit.

Being linked with every CB in the media isn't going to be reflective of our actual strategy. More whatever the lazy arsed journos can be bothered to write.

Matsima, Le Guen and some change for Lacroix, feels like strategically very good business.

The way the Matsima deal is going Chelsea could step in and buy him instead of Max.

Probably not. They want a CB who has proven PL experience. I don't see them taking a chance on Matsima instead of Max - that doesn't mean they won't go for him in addition to Max, though. However, I suspect Chelsea have been doing their sums very carefully re outgoings and incomings given their SCR issues, so may decide they wouldn't have the room to bring in both.

Well there's been much talk about footballing models on these threads.
We could become an official feeder club to Chelsea I suppose, e.g
- develop a highly rated player like Derry then let Chelsea take him on a professional contract
- take one of their young players on loan and turn him into an England international and £30 million player i.e Gallagher
- buy an unknown centre half , turn him into an excellent defender and French international and then let Chelsea have him at a less than fair value i.e Lacroix

Why not buy Matsima, develop him, and if he's any good let Chelsea steal him too in tbe way of a good feeder club?

I think so (not ITK, but according to media rumours)...we tried to sign Pinnock, Pavlovic, Disasi on loan & at some stage Igor - none of those can be considered really carefully thought out replacement for MG, imo anyway!

Matsima & Le Guen could well be cracking business, or could be awful & only times will tell. No Guehi or Max worries me slightly than we have no exceptional leader in the back 3 (Richards to some extent, but he doesnt give me the same confidence as the others).

Or we could tell them to get stuffed and not do any more business with them. If we have a choice...

I

Were you against getting a fee for Guehi? Would you have not signed Olise because you wouldn't have agreed to a release clause? Would you have not let Anderson go, even if the money was great? We got 70m for a 27yo Eze, are you denying moving to his boyhood club?
Andersen only left because everyone on this forum always spelled his name wrong

The Telegraph are reporting that Arsenal are pushing the boat out to get Vinicius from Real Madrid and are willing to top his £400,000 per week wages.
They’ve come a long way since they sold us David Price.

He will probably cost somewhere in the 130 pound range in terms of a transfer fee.

He played in 3 consecutive FA Cup finals for Arsenal.
After retirement he played for Arsenal Vets and became a taxi driver for a company based in Purley.
