Many people get released because of a lack of admissible evidence. Not necessarily because they are innocent. If they are innocent then they have nothing to fear and should be doing their maximum to assist the police. If not then they know they are being watched.

Whilst nobody in their right mind has anything but total disgust for someone who commits such a horrific murder that is no reason to elevate the victim to Sainthood as a consequence.

Ann Widdecome was as last century as is Jacob Rees-Mogg. They share far more than just traditional, ultra conservative values. Both being interesting as evidence of our past but not as an inspiration for our future. Just as a castle was once the most desirable place to live, it isn’t now. It’s drafty, has no running water or toilets, hugely poorly insulated and inefficient. Our homes have moved on. So has our politics.

The idea that Ann would have made a great PM made me actually laugh. She wouldn’t. Not only were her politics decades out of date when called upon to defend them in rigorous debate she couldn’t. She relied on belief, rather than reason, for most of them. She would have been completely out of her depth.
