Ann Widdecombe

you are taking a very ethnocentric view there Dan. Some of us could school you on three or four countries' legal systems.

But it doesn't take kavanagh QC to know when there is something rotten in Denmark Dan.

Anyhoo............

Anne Widdicombe.....God rest her soul.

Where have I mentioned anything ethno related, eagle?

Or maybe not.
Perhaps it's your understanding of the meaning of words. The " law " is one thing, the ": legal process " is something else. Do you not understand the difference?

Allow me to explain. Understanding a recipe is not the same thing as preparing the food.

You can disagree to be contrarian but this is simple stuff.

Do you understand what contempt of court and prejudicing a jury is?

The law is objective, it's the application that is not. Inherent problem of having laws that are subject to interpretation by the CPS and judiciary.

Proscriptive law is much easier to administer.

It’s the law you’re living under Owen, whether you like it or not.

True.

It isn't the laws themselves, it's the type and quality of people interpreting them.

In the memoirs of Stalin’s former secretary, Boris Bazhanov, he claimed Stalin said in 1923:
'I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how;but what is extraordinarily important is who will count the votes, and how.'

If he pleads guilty there is no jury trial so there is no jury to prejudice.

This is not complicated.

But he obviously hasn’t, has he? So everything put on social media, including here is potentially prejudicial that could get you held in contempt of court.

It’s why so little has been put in the public demain.

I just want to highlight something the Met have stated about this case.

Commander Helen Flanagan, Head of CTP London said: 'this has been a fast-moving investigation after we became aware of information to indicate there was a potential threat towards the Islamic event over the course of last weekend.'

I have highlighted the two pieces of the statement that are of concern.

First, 'we became aware of information', well if this investigation turns up no charges against these released and bailed people, then I think the source of this 'information' should itself be investigated.....will it be? I have no faith in the Police personally.

Secondary, the use of the word 'potential'......Now, personally I have no problem with the Police saying that.

However, that wasn't what the Home Secretary nor the Prime Minister said.....Let me reproduce their statements released on the very cusp of these arrests.

From Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood:

'@TerrorismPolice are leading an investigation into a credible threat to those attending the UK Ijtima festival this weekend. I thank Suffolk Police, Counter Terrorism Policing, and the organisers for their swift and effective response that undoubtedly saved lives. Twelve individuals have now been arrested. I know this is deeply concerning news for British Muslims. We must stand against hatred and we must unite around our shared belief in a country that is open, generous and tolerant to all our communities.”
'.

From two tier Keir:

'Shocking news that Counter Terrorism Police are investigating a credible, serious threat targeted at an Islamic event in Suffolk. Thanks to the quick action taken by police and the organisers, nobody was hurt. My message is clear: I will not tolerate any attacks on our Muslim communities, or any form of anti-Muslim hatred.'

Where is this concern for speculation here?
Nobody with any common sense would have the slightest problem with any of those statements. Only those who seek to find prejudice where none exists do. The police have a job to do. They did it. The vast majority of us are very grateful for that. I want the police to take action every time their intelligence suggests a credible threat exists. Whatever the source.

Hahahaha. Bring it on. So fascinated to see how you online snowflakes bring about your change.

Restore 4% in the polls this morning btw.

If I could be bothered I'd save this post and its details..... but I'm happy for you to live with your hopes and delusions....even though you accepted the reality of one term governments the other day.

I know that when the lefties get kicked out you won't be here for dust to eat your crow.

You aren't built for it.

Save it mate 😘

Your dissident right utopia is never happening. Everyone else is far more normal than you.

We the public are literally told not to speculate.

Yet you write this and essentially it reads like..... 'Trust me bro'.

Errrr....No.....that's the reasoning of a banana republic.

Where's the evidence? People can't just make claims and then nothing happens.

We were told credible and serious from the PM.....Then the Police say extensive searches have been made and they have found nothing.

You suggest that people have been stopped from something.....Where is your evidence for that?
The event was cancelled. Nobody was hurt. The police don’t act, at senior level, just on “claims”. They act on intelligence. They knew something was planned. So they advised cancellation and then arrested suspects. That, so far, evidence hasn’t been found from which charges could result doesn’t mean it either doesn’t exist or that further investigation won’t find it. What it does do is place a shot across the bow that indicates the police know more than any perpetrator suspected. The innocent have nothing to fear but the guilty do, and they have been discouraged.

That’s a good job in my view.
