good news if Lacroix is definitely off - for hopefully at least £60m.

Hopefully the injury he had last season was a one-off an not an indication of someone who is injury prone.

We're also linked with Disasi from Chelsea. He's unit and impressed me at West Ham last season. No doubt on big wages and is 28 so i would only consider a loan. I suspect Chelsea are keen to sell.

As Guehi was never replaced we probably need 2 in.

I will be surprised if we want to sign Disasi permanently. I thought the more reliable sources speak of a loan for him - I hope that's the case if we are, indeed, looking to bring him in.

Rumours online said no, as he wants a bigger club. Good, don't need him & he ain't that good.

I'll be quite disappointed if we sell Lacroix for anything less than £60m. Compared to some of the other "feeder clubs" for want of a better term we've not really sold any of our stars for big bucks, and some of them have just been straight up bargains.
Brighton have rinsed Chelsea a few times for tens of millions more than we would have got out of them. We need to stand up - both at the contract stage and over the asking price. We might have to accept being a stepping stone club but it feels like we're grateful to players for deigning to take millions a year until a better offer arrives.

Quite true indeed. Brentford and Bournemouth have also made some good deals. The last player we sold for what I would call "good money" at the time was Wan Bissaka. Unfortunately that profit went into paying off loans.
Before that it was the sale of Bolasie that perked my ears.

Is this not always the problem when you sell one and then buy a replacement, that the club you're buying the replacement from knows you've got £60m burning a hole in your pocket?!

Mind you, I suppose the alternative is to buy the replacement before you sell the existing player, only to see him fail a medical, ala Mateta!
