This is why I take an opposing view to those who suggest letting our players go, even when on long term contracts, as we'd be breaking some sort of tacit understanding that we were a stepping stone to a bigger club for them should we seek to hold them to a contract.

If we 'can't stand in the way ' of Lacroix moving to Chelsea, why shouldn't the same logic apply for Sarr to Manchester United or Wharton to Liverpool?

We have to draw a line somewhere where key assets are concerned.
We've already lost Olise, Eze and Guehi are surely not at a stage where we are running a stall at Berwick St Market instead of an aspirational professional football club.

Absolutely. There has to come a time when we're not thinking of the club as scouts for others. The money clubs have the whole world to shop around in so they can piss off and look harder rather than letting us do the work for them.

I want much higher fees for our players. Lacroix was near the top in a lot of metrics for defenders. Therefore, requires a top fee. It's pretty clear worse players have gone for more already. Not the 55mil being reported. Add 20.

Correct. It's a sad state of affairs when teenagers are forced into eroding valuable m*sturbatory time making up football rumours. When they have a wife and kids and don't even get to lock the bathroom door any more, they'll look back and go "I really ought to have utilised my time stiffening the towels more often".

Or they could just go and play for Chelsea.

'meeja' is a far greater lure than a swift one off the wrist.

Wharton and Sarr will not leave, Lacroix will leave for about 55m and be replaced by a better player, Mateta may leave, but will be replaced by Edouard 🤣 🤣 😉

These guys differ from the others you mentioned. Olise, we had no choice on (and Parish did well to get the final year out of him); Eze was keen to go and we got a good price; if we hadn't won the Conference Guehi going might have been the one to regret. Lacroix at a premium price would be acceptable if it wasn't seen as being needed to buy Johnson and Larsen. I can't see Sarr or Wharton (unless it's for 117mill) leaving. They are our crucial two players, along with Munoz
