He should take some lessons from the Cape Verde manager in how to keep trying to play. And they have arguably less resources to call on.
 
Ridiculous tactics to bring on defenders with so much time left. The result was totally predictable.
The is no way you are going to defend out a 1-0 lead against Argentina.

Yet another opportunity wasted.

Parking the bus against Argentina with 30 minutes left not so clever. They were rampant and the result was inevitable. I stopped watching after they equalised I knew what would happen.

I concur with these sentiments.
Full credit to the players for their determination grit and effort.Alas they were let down by their manager.
 
Frustrating thing for me is that we had plenty of warnings of what Argentina were looking to do i.e. put crosses into the penalty area from around the edge of the 18 yard box but we seemed to want to put a stationary line of 7 players across the penalty area. We should have made more of an effort to put pressure on the players putting in the crosses which should have been the job of the midfielders but most had been subbed out. Up and till we scored we did pretty well and it looked like we would go on and win the game. In the previous games Tuchal has been very pro active in changing things around and the changes have been good. Unfortunately this one did not go so well.
 
I wonder what England’s punishment would have been if they’d hoisted a banner proclaiming the Falklands are and will remain British?
 
You get what you deserve and England deserved nothing.

Please no "brave England" posts. We nicked a goal on the break and then tried to hang on with a dodgy defence it was never going to happen. The only surprise was that we held the lead for so long.

Argentina wanted it more and Tuchel just wanted to defend his way to victory.

Anyway, I'm glad this world cup malarky is out of the way for us - now we can get on with the fun and games at Palace. Much more important.

They know how to win, rough up the opposition, then go for the kill, they have been doing it for years.

They have good players and play for each other, the goals were down to Spence, who for some bizarre reason is getting praised, but cant defend, and leaving Fernadez in acres of space on his own to set up to place it past Pickford.

A team that can't defend will never win the World Cup.
