The most meaningless game in football . It does however give Mbappe a chance to score a few goals against an uninterested opposition for the golden boot

I don’t think he was. He stayed with the centre forward Oyarzabal who he was marking. The full back and left midfielder lost their men allowing the Spanish to score. Max ended up with quite a good score for a sub relative to his teammates.
The real culprit was Deschamps whose game management has been lacking for a while. He does not like to start with Premier League players with Saliba of Arsenal the only first choice. He wasn’t keen on Olise until he went to Bayern. Maybe this is a reason why JP wants to go to Europe. With Deschamps retiring he probably has a better chance staying at Palace.

Just look forward to Saturday’s possible best of Palace clash. England featuring Henderson, Guehi, Eze and Chalobah against France with Lacroix, Mateta and Olise. Intriguing but hopefully our current boys will have a crap match to keep the vultures at bay!
Anybody watch the third place game? Ironically ended up being one of the best games of the World Cup.
The players clearly didn't see it as a meaningless game, although a lot of us at home did.
I have been saying all tournament that Eze, Deano, and Toney should get some time. In the case of the first two I believe they should have been the starters. Obviously not in Toney's case when Kane is above him in the fight, but he can still have more of a run that he did get.
It worked out very well. I haven't seen a better England performance. I would have liked to see this line up against Argentina.
