Palace Summer 2026 transfers?

He has to be sold for this reason alone unless people really believed we spunked 50 million on a back up striker
Of course we didn't. We spent the money expecting Mateta to go to Milan in the same window. It's not the club's fault the deal fell through on medical grounds. Mateta stayed and showed he was still a better option up front than JSL. We were also hoping to offload Nketiah to Spammers but he got injured.

If Mateta still wants to leave and an acceptable offer comes in then no doubt we'll sell him. However, that wouldn't mean we'd need to replace him. Sarr has shown at the World Cup that he can play the striker role if called upon and we aren't short of wide players given Sage's apparent preference for his no 10s playing wider. I accept that the likes of Esse, JRS and Franca have to prove they're genuine options and Johnson has to get his confidence back which he has more chance of doing if he's in his more accustomed role. Pino plays out wide for Spain so he shouldn't find the Sage adjustment difficulty

There is a lot of clickbait etc, but within it all you can see patterns to a degree. I think we can read into a lack of reports of any sort linking us to a striker is telling. I think Mateta will stay at least until January.

I don't get to see games in the flesh, but I did think Uche didn't look too bad and not a bad option as a squad player. What do those of you who see games think of him?

What struck me about that video is the amount of hangers on just standing around in the background watching. Endless people in tracksuits. Modern football and the enormity of staff. Are they all necessary, or does it create an overwhelming atmosphere
i help out at my local non league club. In pre-season they train twice a week but when the season starts, especially if there is a midweek game too they train only once a week, usually on a 5 a side pitch.

They still have 4 coaches - a joint manager, an assistance and two extra coaches.

I think it's ridiculous - but they stand there with their initials on a tracksuit.

That's partly why the FA introduced a rule that only 2 people can stand up in the technical area during a game. A few years ago it was getting silly with some teams having 5 or 6 shouting and pointing.

Hull have come out and said they have £130m or something to spend on transfers. Wonder if they might be interested.

Would be the sort of player I can imagine a promoted club taking a gamble on. Knows the league and can definitely score.

I’m thinking any JP decision will be left until he knows whether he’s a World Cup winner or not and whether he might have come on as a sub and scored a goal or two, because if both things happen we won’t be able to get his head through the Selhurst doors and he’ll want away, but if it goes the other way he’ll love the club again and will be happy to stay
He may end up a world Cup winner, but without kicking a ball is a meaningless to most.
So may Henderson and Pino.
