UK Police and Judiciary out of control?

"Met police pay Graham Linehan £25k over arrest for gender-critical posts"

What were they thinking?
5 armed coppers greeted a comedian at the airport. Who the feck signed it off?

The way this was handles beggars belief. It is common practice for armed Police to arrest those entering the UK who are wanted(?), however they could have waited at passport control, who would have his name on a watch list, and spoke to him in private.
However, the reasons given for his arrest is yet another prime example of two tier policing and an attack on free speech ( well right wing anti trans anyway)

It was a non violent non time critical issue. Why did the police not invite him to attend a police station to discuss the matter. They do it with others.

Our police 😒

I kind of feel sorry for the guy.
Painfully out of his depth and he doesn't want to be there any more than the suspect. He'd obviously be much happier in a nice, cushy customer service role somewhere.
The institution is to blame for pushing him into it.

Agree with you entirely

Is it some sort of job swap? We have sent an Officer to his country of origin. Surely he is not a full time UK Police Officer. The Officer in the background hardly hid his embarrassment

It's an institutional failure, whatever way you look at it.
Someone has signed off on this guy's training and signed him off as ready for frontline duty.
