Eagles playing at the World Cup

could Lerma be a starter for us next season. He looks comfortable on the world stage, albeit they went out last night. More defensive than the Warton + Kamada combination, however depending on how Sage likes to play, there could be a spot for him

Not as a midfielder IMHO because he makes too many poor passes either out of play (as last night) or straight to the opposition. I see him as a bench player who can cover CB if we're desperate and can come on as a sub in midfield if we need to replace tired legs.

Of course. But as you hinted it depends v much on team set up and roles.

In the Columbia team they play James in the 10, so Lerma doesnt really have to do much more than break up the play.

With the set up under Glasner the CM's needed to be technically very good, which he isnt.

Riad, Lacroix, Mateta, Pino, Strand-Larson and Hendo only palace players left.

6 out.

Guehi, Eze and Olise ex-Palace.

I'm rooting for teams with them in it (except JSL)
and with my Palace glasses on i.e. i don't want our players knackered for next season, of the above 6 still in the competition only Riad is a regular starter and even he missed the last month with an injury - hopefully not serious.

It will be interesting to see if he plays against France tomorrow.

Of those who have left players such as Munoz, Sarr and Kamada have had good WCs , and Richards and Lerma haven't done badly. Guessand barely played but as a loanee i ignore him anyway.

Riad still not fit enough to start - though original injury not considered serious (a knock to his previously injured knee) - so a slight worry but he's done well already

Of course no starts for Lacroix or Mateta. But slow going so far so JPM may get on if it heads into ET

To be fair I think he only had two less touches than Haaland . The way Norway set up the CF just stands in the middle on the off chance someone crosses the ball

I must say I felt a lot more confident of us winning when I saw JSL replacing Haaland.

Sorloth was also back to his Palace best as he went through 2 against 1.
