Everyone they sack always retains all of their benefits, plus gets a pay off. The whole country should be demanding Hugh Edward's money back for a start. But he's no where near the only one. The ones that edited the Trump stuff - everybody who is sacked for gross misconduct or rank incompetence. That's a joke on everyone.I'm not sure what to make of this, it could be Mail hyperbole of course.

BBC4 set for axe in bid to fill broadcaster's £500million funding hole
The BBC is scrambling to make savings after discovering a £500million hole in its budget and has announced a bloodbath of cutswww.dailymail.com
I mean how can you not notice a missing £500m?
If this is true then they should sack any of the senior management team who are still in place.

It's a shame about BBC 4 which has some watchable music programmes as opposed to their usual drivel.I'm not sure what to make of this, it could be Mail hyperbole of course.

THE UK government will do the same as happened in Ireland. Bung the BBC a lorryload of free money. The propaganda-machine will never die out.Nearly 600k people did not renew their licence last year. That is double the previous number which had been bumping along in the 200-250k range.
As some of us predicted a tipping point is rapidly coming when people will just simply refuse to pay as that will be millions of people the BBC will be powerless.

Lisa Nandy Says BBC Licence Fee Could Be Paid By Netflix Subcribers
UK Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy has said the BBC licence fee could be expanded to subscribers to Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+.deadline.com
Either the BBC is paying their stars less or they are getting better at hiding it from the taxpayer. Not Lineker money but not bad.

Scott Mills was highest paid BBC star before sacking, annual report shows
The former Radio 2 breakfast host earned about £745,000 from the BBC in the last financial year.www.bbc.co.uk
From the BBC website they really do not get it.The issue is it's just not worth paying for. It's a woke propaganda channel and I'm NOT interested in that shite
Ireland
I watched a piece on it on the Northern Ireland news which explained that they do not declare wages paid by independent production companies that they use. This would include people like Claudia Winkelman and all the Strictly people. I'd have to think they'd be getting more than what is disclosed. So, yes, hiding it.Either the BBC is paying their stars less or they are getting better at hiding it from the taxpayer.

The licence fee is not a tax and nor would anything that replaced it be.From the BBC website they really do not get it.
""The BBC is arguing - with some justification - that licence fee payment is down in large part because people aren't consuming live TV in the way they used to. That trend won't reverse. In fact, it will accelerate.""
So let me get this straight. The reason people are not paying the licence fee is because they are not watching the BBC, okay no argument from me there.
""The BBC's licence fee income - the main source of its funding - has remained roughly level since the current charter began in 2017, but the corporation says it has effectively gone down by £1.3bn, or about a quarter, if inflation is taken into account.
That was caused by freezes in the licence fee through some of that period, as well as changes in audience behaviour.""
Oh dear you mean that the BBC is entitled to an ever increasing amount of money from the taxpayer and it's boo hoo because the government restricted it to less than inflation.
""Is this rejection an anti-BBC choice - or a reaction to the fact that, as DG Matt Brittin put it to MPs last week, the licence fee system itself is a "busted flush"? The BBC would argue it's the latter.""
Okay this is the nub. The way the BBC collects the money through the licence fee is the problem. It's not that the public don't love the BBC they just don't love the licence fee. Sorry I don't agree many of the public don't watch or love the BBC and don't see why they should pay for something they don't use. If the BBC made programs the public wanted people would pay the licence fee. Sky, Netflix, Disney don't force people to use their services.
What the BBC is really complaining about is that the licence fee comes with a loophole allowing misguided individuals to opt out. No the BBC wants to close that option and reduce the costs of enforcing the licence fee and also stop by taking poor single women to court (not good for the optics).
I believe the BBC's preferred method is a compulsory tax on broadband (all users) which would be great (for the BBC) as it would mean that BT, Sky and Virgin would become their tax collectors. Nice work if you can get it.
