Reform

Months ago a lefty family member at a barbecue said that the recently murdered Charlie Kirk was an extremist. I had to bite my tongue to stop myself from saying that the extremist was the murderer, not the guy turning up to debate people who chose to debate him.

Shocking. I've been there where you have to bite your tongue especially at some family events when the last thing you want to talk about is politics.

I’m afraid Rupert Lowe is the one showing his true colours as regards the Clacton by election.

He clearly cares more about his personal ambition than the country he supposedly loves.

If you think ‘man of the people’ Nige is in this for any other reason than ego, power and personal enrichment you’re more naive than I thought.

There’s a reason why only the very rich or the very thick vote for far right populist parties; the very rich need the very thick to vote for them in numbers to gain power to make them even richer.

And I’m pretty sure you’re not very rich.
So what is your definition of " very rich "?

So seems DanH is unable to define what he means by " very rich ".

Perhaps better not to use words you don't understand when you post.

I know this would hamper every post you make but that can't be helped.

Currently , Al/Dantifa would qualify as the biggest vertical launcher of cabers on this board, and there quite some competition for that accolade.

You realise some of us have busy lives outside of this site and don’t live on here, don’t you?

I’d class very rich as ultra high net wealth - c.£25 million in net worth by common accepted definition. The top 1%.

Want to try and post one post without being completely patronising and dismissive?

So in your learned opinion anyone who votes for Reform is either in the top 1% of wealthy people in the UK or very thick.

Well, thanks for clearing that up.

The logical conclusion would be that you are a Reform voter by your own definition?

Bold highlight, now coming from you that is genuinely funny 🤣

Keep launching the cabers

Why do you think Reform and Restore have deliberately targeted seats in the lowest income and lowest educational constituencies historically?

And speaking of very thick, yer boy Nige’s by-election trick has spectaculary backfired already, hasn’t it? More scrutiny in to his finances and going head to head with a man who wears a bin on his head.

4D chess.

So, your position is that the Labour "Red Wall" was inhabited by mostly thick people.

The Clacton by-election issue has a long way to run.

There is a gathering storm of chatter that the Parliamentary standards committee have reached a decision already to find Farage guilty and give him a ban that would force a by-election.

Badenoch has let herself down by talking of another by-election, has she been tipped the wink by someone.

Starmer talking about self interest is comedy gold

I can understand Farage's anger after the MSM door stepped his daughter and revealed her address.

I wonder how Rigby, Bolton and Burley would like that.

Had this dirty trick been employed by say GB News or other right leaning media there would be a meltdown.

Are these really the arguments floating around in left wing remainer discourse?

If you're married to someone who isn't British then you can't also support Brexit?

This kind of stuff just hurts my head.
Come on, the point being that he has had to deal with far bigger press intrusion in the past into his family situation, namely when his desire to divorce from Europe was compared with his love of Europeans. It’s a leg pull. I mean his latest bird is French isn’t she?

I think it's disgusting that the major parties have indicated they will not stand against him.

They are denying the people of Clacton their opportunity to kick Farage out and or vote for the party they support.

Bloody politicians showing their contempt for the public. They should have called Farage's bluff in the right way.

Just seen that Lowe has now said that Restore will not be putting up a candidate.
This by election isn’t going to stop the parliamentary inquiry- so what will it actually achieve? I don’t doubt he would win a fully contested by election, and I imagine most people would agree with that. He is a popular politician. So the point is?

The UK left the EU, not Europe. I hope that helps 👍🏻

It's not the scrutiny of him that's the issue, it is bringing his daughter into it.

That is despicable but very Sky news

It's about changing the narrative. Farage is not going to be the target of a smear campaign for the next two years and do nothing. He is shifting the headlines.
The other parties know they have no chance of winning Clacton, so are pretending to disown a by election.

Rupert Lowe's main ambition seems to be getting back at Farage. Disappointing.

And if / when a looney lefty shows up at his daughter's address (because it's now out there) who believes all the Nazi name calling by the media? What then? will Farage be over reacting then if as a result has to go to his daughters funeral?

This isn’t America.

I don’t agree with involving his family but there’s no need to be so dramatic.

When was the last time a politician was killed by a ‘lefty’ in this country..? Let alone the daughter of a politician.

As a wider point, Farage is bent as anything - the skeletons will keep coming.

I think the Major party's not contesting the Clacton by-election is a major low point in UK politics , Clearly Labour and the Tories don't believe they can win and are running scared , Apart from that they are denying the local electorate their democratic choice as to whom governs them .
Rupert Lowe has lost his bottle and reputation as a serious challenger to Nigel Farage and the Greens despite their claims to represent the working class have run for the hills ...
