Spurs will not sign Palhinha on a permanent deal, after they secured Fernandes and Tonali.

If he still leaves Bayern, we could be a potential destination?
 
I don't really see it. Although there would be nothing wrong with it. My opinion on this position is between two: the one Sage worked with - Sangare, and the Wolves one, Gomes is it? Something like that. Haven't looked into what's going on with either player. Which the club probably hasn't either.

Lerma has had his contract extended until the end of the season. It was our option: not his. He has said he wouldn't mind moving but no one is really making a serious offer and matching his wages. We'd be within our rights to ask for a decent fee.

we've also been linked with shea charles and jordan james quite a bit.

I'd've thought most of our squad is home grown in nation qualified and we would already have plenty to fit the Europa regulations?

I could be wrong. Seems to me that we have more than most who would get European football.

Palhinha would have been very effective in an era when most teams had a 'destroyer' in midfield.
He's a powerful tackler who gets the ball and plays it simple and is efficient in this regard.
However, in the modern era where nearly every tackle is a foul , his style of play has largely become redundant.
Ball winning tacklers will soon be like the dodo going the way of jinking wingers, twin strikers and stopper centre halves.
Jumpers for goalposts anyone?

Refs at the World Cup are clearly being encouraged by FIFA to allow more physical contact and this may eventually be translated into the PL and other Leagues. Perhaps the footballing authorities have finally remembered that football is a contact sport. We can hope.

It's still a surprise to see a player left in a crumpled heap and the ref waving play on. Seems to be working though because there hasn't been the usual amount of diving and the rolling around in agony has declined as well.

In one of the early group games the sniper was much in evident with one player losing the ball as he was hit but the ref waved play on. The attacking team went down the other end and scored whilst the player finally decided he wasn't getting a free kick so he might as well get up. If I was his manager I would have taken him off as he cost them the goal and the game.

I think you have to have 8 English Qualified - trained in England 3 years before 18-21. And four (included as English qualified too) trained by the club 3 years between 18-21. Players who are under 21 and been at the club over two years don't need to be registered. If you can't fulfill that, you lose a space in the 25 man squad.
I'm really just going by Football Manager on this - but it's usually correct. It isn't that easy to get the full 25 for Palace. Particularly since Clyne and Zaha are gone. Mitchell and Wharton count as Club ones. Canvot will one day. Have to register someone like Goodman, Rak-Sakyi or Ozoh to have a full squad. That's why we keep on registering a load of goalies.
Premier League rules are 8 English qualified and U21s don't need to be registered.

Yes but not to the extent of the Uzbek ref last night who tolerated full assault and made the game a survival experience for the French.

Never have I cheered the French with such heart.

He was about the worst ref I've ever seen. Truly awful - unless he was being paid it's hard to believe he could be that incompetent.

Clubs have to have 3 goalkeepers registered in all European Comps, same as Nations with FIFA comps.

There was that ref a few world cups ago (Egyptian?) who sent half the players off in a group game.

OK slight exaggeration but his services were not called on again.

Hopefully this tw*t's comp will now be restricted to cleaning out the official' lavs.

I much preferred them to Argentina in the last final. Although, I can't pretend to really like either. France play the better football.

Nor me. I wonder how much someone paid that ref to turn a blind eye to those fouls. If he's not stood down by FIFA, something very fishy is going on - but then it is FIFA and something fishy's always going on where they're concerned.
