Mateta to AC Milan?

You mention Nketiah, apart from injuries, I think his biggest problem is he’s one of those strikers that suffers from the modern formation of only having one main striker, he would’ve been great back in the day next to a centre forward. Arsenal fans did say he reminded them of Ian Wright. He certainly knows where the goal is, but he doesn’t stand a chance being thrown on every now and then for a short spell, he’s never going to get any confidence or rhythm going
Well that shows how Arsenal fans are complete f***ing idiots if Nketiah reminds them of Ian Wright!
I agree with those who say he is s***. He is scared of the ball and is always injured, probably got some sort of pbobia about playing.
JSL isn’t as bad as him. The only player I would say is as bad is Johnson who is also a waste of money that I wish we would offload to some mug.

I think JSL will become an important player for us. He has the physical attributes, and he works hard, so with support and game time, I think he'll come good. Most of us questioned the signing of Nketiah as he looked like a player for a different team, not one who plays with a big target man. If he gets fit before the end of the summer, then it may be the club look to try and get a loan or a sale.

As to JP, for me, it's really whether he wants to stay. If he's desperate to leave, then he should go, as hard as it might be to replace him. When his head is not fully in the game, he reverts back to the JP of old. Hopefully he signs a new deal and comes out guns blazing, but we'll see.

Those stats are probably false, 6.5 appearances might not have even added up to a couple of hours on the pitch, as you will know, one appearance can be a one minute appearance to wind the clock down, so it’s always a false stat when someone wants a stick to beat a striker with
JP was awful for his first three years, but we’ve had a good couple of years out of him now he’s been playing regular
the caveat to that argument is he was often played against weaker opposition for Arsenal so had a better chance of scoring.

I believe his last goals for Arsenal were a hattrick v Sheffield U - and Sheff Utd were essentially relegated by Christmas that season.

Regarding Mateta you could argue the change in formation has assisted his game. Not sure Nketiah will ever succeed as a lone 9, he just hasn't got the game for it.

There’s no pulling the wool over your eyes 🤣
well , some people seem to be ageing him before his time, which is my point.

No9s who don't rely on pace alone can play until their mid 30s. Glenn Murray being a perfect example - we sold him when he was 32 i think, after a major knee injury, and he had 4 or so years at the top after leaving us. We got Wickham instead!

Chris Wood at Forest showed that when fit he is still a handful. Scoring over 20 league goals in the Premier league for a non 6 club is very impressive, and he did it at 32.

Mateta will still have suitors when he is in his mid 30s as long as he can stay fit.

Kevin Phillips as well.

Bad news for Mateta. PSG forward Ramos has signed for AC Milan, the fee €60 million. They are now unlikely to move for JP. If they do he is likely to be back up and sit on the bench!
