Bit harsh when JSL has just taken a penalty as well as Lionel Messi. We have bought 3 expensive forwards, all of which are pretty poor. I suppose we can add a 4th.

Patrick Bamford scored 13 goals from 29 appearances for Sheff Utd last season.I'm sure we will sign liam delap at some point 😅
No he won't.He will be 30 in January so either he goes this window for a decent amount or he extends his contract for a couple of years. I don't want him walking for free next Summer or find ourselves having to accept a derisory offer in January as we had to with Guehi.
I'm not sure. Transfer fees are going through the roof and our striker recruitment has been very suspect over the last few years.Perhaps, but of course the least financially effective approach is to keep Mateta then lose him on a free in 12 months.

Yes. I misread the month thinking my records said Jan not Jun.No he won't.
It was his birthday yesterday and is now 29. So he will be 29 for the whole of next season.
Yes, he's not a teenager, but as pace isn't he's greatest asset his age is not a massive issue IMHO.
Chris Wood is 34 now so when 32 scored 20 prem goals in a season for Forest.

There’s no pulling the wool over your eyes 🤣No he won't.

Mateta will not be here at the start of the season, it makes no sense to let his contract run down or, IMO, give him a three year contract on a large salary.I'm not sure. Transfer fees are going through the roof and our striker recruitment has been very suspect over the last few years.
JP is our No1 striker and we will play many games next season. Unless a silly offer comes in for him (£35m plus) then i would keep him.
Why accept say £20m and then waste it on someone unproven and probably on higher wages.
Larsen is surely a guide as to what we will get, and it's a step backwards

People need to remember that Mateta agitated to leave. It wasn't our choice.

Hate to agree Robbie, but I do agree, I think when he was trying to force a move he needed to remember the three years where apart from a goal down at Brighton he gave us very little else.Exactly,
He's backed himself into a bit of a corner, he wanted to leave, forcing us to buy a replacement.
He's now an ageing asset with a short contract. As much as I love him, I dont really see any option but to get rid.

I agree. Face it, we don't know what was offered to him by Palace, but definitely his agent found other clubs willing to pay him more.Hate to agree Robbie, but I do agree, I think when he was trying to force a move he needed to remember the three years where apart from a goal down at Brighton he gave us very little else.

You mention Nketiah, apart from injuries, I think his biggest problem is he’s one of those strikers that suffers from the modern formation of only having one main striker, he would’ve been great back in the day next to a centre forward. Arsenal fans did say he reminded them of Ian Wright. He certainly knows where the goal is, but he doesn’t stand a chance being thrown on every now and then for a short spell, he’s never going to get any confidence or rhythm goingI agree. Mateta has what 2 maybe 3 years left of quality football (and that's assuming he doesn't get hurt). If I were him I'd try and maximize my take home pay during that period.
I'd love to keep him at Palace, but if someone comes in offering 30 million for a transfer, we should take it and wish him well. I do think JSL will prove some people on here wrong and become a worthy striker. I even think Nketiah is a good backup (assuming he stays healthy), he's just not a full match striker.

'Rottweiler' mode per chance? Just asking. 😉He doesn’t know where the goal is , his premier league record is a goal every 6.5 appearances, he’s f*cking rubbish. Was just as bad for Leeds in the championship.
A complete and utter waste of transfer fee and wages. S*it

Those stats are probably false, 6.5 appearances might not have even added up to a couple of hours on the pitch, as you will know, one appearance can be a one minute appearance to wind the clock down, so it’s always a false stat when someone wants a stick to beat a striker withHe doesn’t know where the goal is , his premier league record is a goal every 6.5 appearances, he’s f*cking rubbish. JP was awful for his first three years, but we’ve had a good couple of years out of him now he’s been playing regular
