Leipzig - a Fan's Eye View

It would. But we’d be f***ing sh*te.

Too take it to its extremes we are all immigrants. I'm Norwegian on one half going back far enough.

I never supported Palace because they were good. We are doing well due to the money the club have Dan.

It's my opinion that the article writer is making a point of praising mass immigration, using the fact of how well our football team have done recently, to further his own ideology.

He's saying shut up and suck it up, even if you don't like it, because the teams doing well.

This is how it comes across to me.

In one sentence you’ve summed up how how ridiculous the whole immigration debate is. We’re all made up of descendants from elsewhere. Ireland here.

I've summed up how ridiculous ethno nationalism is. That goes for any country and any colour. Questioning mass immigration is another thing.

Unfortunately white people have noticed quite rightly that others can celebrate their ethnicity; where it is uncomfortable and frowned upon for whites to do the same.

Personally my ethnicity means f all to me
But it does mean something to others and this I respect. A fair playing field is something I would like to see. We get that and I'll bet all these debates will disappear.

I fully agree.

I'm actually looking forward to the blog posters next blog about how he took in an immigrant for the £350 a month incentive by the government come August/ September.

I find it interesting and informative that so much focus on here is on the innocuous (or so I thought) "last word" bit of the blog rather than the 4000-odd words about Leipzig which precede it.

I wasn't trying to trigger anyone or "virtue signal" but some people have taken that notion and run with it, diverting from what was meant to be a celebration of our recent successes, which have, in no small part, been brought about by the diversity of our playing and coaching staff and the many of them born overseas, or descended from migrants. The fact this has enraged some on here to the extent they've ignored 99.9% of the piece and gone off on one about the 0.1% is a shame, and a sad reflection of the divisions in our society which are being created by those who benefit from them politically and financially.

I stand by the blog as a whole and am grateful to those who have read and responded to it as such.

Noted but football and politics don’t really mix as you’ve found out. People are sick to death of being told how to think and what to say and being branded for thoughts and opinions they’ve held for years. Going to football is an escape from that and long may it continue.

Simply wrong thread, that's all. I was in the Irish pub when it kicked off. Our group had no idea there were inappropriate flags there, still no excuse for an attack.

Mate, you accused someone who responded to your blog page as racist; because as you said it had two black people in it.

An accusation that was totally unfounded. All the guy basically said was leave politics out of things; Pretty much what we have said on here.

You say you were surprised by the triggering, but said you were happy to have triggered him.

You shouldn't be at all surprised by the responses you have got. You had prior warning.

I suggest people look up your hypocrisy.

The reason I get annoyed by this stuff is because its intellectually dishonest.

I've thought a lot about this over the weekend and concluded that, although I disagree with a lot of what's been said here, it wasn't relevant to the piece to include the last pic and distracted from what I was trying to get across in the blog. So I'm going to remove it, but make a new blog with the pic and invite debate about that issue, which I'm happy to take part in as long as it's polite and doesn't get abusive on either side. Apologies to anyone offended by anything I've said, that wasn't my intention, and I know feelings run high on both sides of the argument. I try to respect all views and do believe in freedom of speech and debate as long as that respect applies to both sides.

Cheers lads and no hard feelings from me.
