The story I heard in full was, Dougie had a word with Glasner about how predictable his tactics were, saying a plan B might be necessary. Glasner went to Parish and said he doesn't work with anyone on footballing matters. Parish tried to keep Dougie and Glasner apart but it wasn't really viable and he left as quickly as he could....and all the fantastic players that Dougie had acquired ?

Things change very quickly in football as we all know. Parish should be doing everything in his power to get Dougie back and get rid of the present incumbent who is frankly useless. The story I heard in full was, Dougie had a word with Glasner about how predictable his tactics were, saying a plan B might be necessary. What bothers me about it was Glasner was leaving anyway and I would have frankly thought Freedman was useful for the future. Glasner only short term, unfortunately.
But it is what it is. Just what I heard, no inside knowledge as such. Sounds believable.

One hopes that this was mentioned to Sage at his interview ! 😛It’s still hard to believe us, Crystal Palace parted with so much money in January, especially for two average at best players. So I think you’re right, Wharton may have to go, but even then I doubt we’ll be spending £85 million again, we’ll be back down to our usual of looking for bargains at around the £13 million mark

Fair point Willo, we don’t want any toys throwing out of prams further down the line when we have a bad patchOne hopes that this was mentioned to Sage at his interview ! 😛

Whoever was moaning was a fool. What Dougie did was bettered only by Arnie Warren discovering Kenny Sansom, Billy Gilbert, Terry Fenwick, Vince Hilaire, Jerry Murphy and Peter Nicholas in a matter of weeks. Now that was proper scouting! How the tide has turned bitching and moaning about what Freedman was doing , to Please come back we love you honest and never say a bad word about you again mmmmm
All come through our youth system , scouting back then was very localised ,Whoever was moaning was a fool. What Dougie did was bettered only by Arnie Warren discovering Kenny Sansom, Billy Gilbert, Terry Fenwick, Vince Hilaire, Jerry Murphy and Peter Nicholas in a matter of weeks. Yes they did. But Warren went out, saw each of them play and got them to sign for Palace instead of Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs. All come through our youth system , scouting back then was very localised ,
Yes very much one man band , and more than likely the parents couldn't get them to the others training ground , thats the way it was then , school county teams was always watched by one scout or another ,Yes they did. But Warren went out, saw each of them play and got them to sign for Palace instead of Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs.

What do you base that assessment on?Dougie was more the sort who loved ferreting around the lower leagues on cold winter nights using his contacts to look for up and coming stars. Matt Hobbs appears the type who likes a comfortable seat in a Premier League Directors Box with free food and drink or in Portugal at a restaurant with his agent mates.

It’s not an assessment it’s an opinion. That’s what this site is all about. What do you base that assessment on?

Must be the greatest job in football outside of playing, being paid a fortune to travel all round the world all expenses paid to basically watch football, and then be called a genius if you do find a half decent player 🤣Dougie was more the sort who loved ferreting around the lower leagues on cold winter nights using his contacts to look for up and coming stars. I maybe wrong but until we see him bring in the next young lower league star I won’t be convinced. How long is his contract?

I like the idea of being an agent.
Taking 10 per cent of your clients' earnings for not doing very much, and if you're in a need of a bonus payday just shift them every couple of years.
Our former players Barry Silkman, Tony Finnigan and Jamie Moralee have done well out of this.
You need a bit of a barrow boy mentality that would have flourished at Berwick St Market in the sixties, but I've no doubt some Palace fans would be well qualified.

The Crucial Role of Football Agents
When football agents are true professionals, their role transcends contract negotiations and PR, encompassing responsibilities that elevate football players on and off the pitch.the-fba.com

I recall those days !I'm old enough to remember when players had no agents.
A father might act as a representative or a neighbour who worked in a bank and had a couple of O levels.
I don't think football has improved with the use of agents, VAR, refs not wearing black, pre match handshakes or mandatory water breaks.
