Lacroix

Chelsea looking for £75m for Gusto, who they think is not good enough and looking to upgrade. Therefore £75m should be the starting point for Maxence I feel.
But we are a soft touch in the transfer market. Guehi for £20m? Absolute joke. I know he was in the last year of his contract. So get him to sign another one safe in the knowledge that he would be allowed to leave if the price was right. Cynical? There are many clubs that would have managed this better.

For Lacroix, if leave he must, Chalobah plus £25m as a start.

But Guehi wouldn’t sign a new contract, hence 20m

One of the click bait sites (repeated by the Beeb) stating that we only want £50m for Lacroix. Really? Who do they think they're kidding?
If true, and that is of course a big IF seeing the source, we really don't help ourselves do we? Whilst absolutely no footballer is worth the sick prices these days, the over-priced Chelsea/Arsenal etc cast-offs and soone-to-be-out-of-contract defenders are quoted at higher than Lacroix, who has 3 years on his contract.

As I understand it the deal was £20m with £10m “add ons”. I suspect the two cup wins and England games would give us some pocket money with the Premier League and Champions League titles substantially more. I doubt we would get anything when he is sold for a profit by City being relegated to the National League!!!

If Chelsea don't think Gusto is good enough and want to upgrade, then our starting price has to be more than £75m - at least £85m. I suggested earlier, let's demand Acheampong, Chalobah AND say £25m.

By threatening to kidnap his family?

I did say he will go for 40 to 50mill. Being reported Palace have put a 50mill price tag on him. We signed him for 18million. so a 32mill profit. Nobody likes it but it's reality. We have to work within the system and develop and sell on players and recycle. We do not have a good stadium, nor can get one. We are nowhere close to having or being able to have the infrastructure to generate millions in commercial or matchday revenue. We run at a total revenue of 196mill, Chelsea at 490mill. That's more than double ours every year.

He goes for 50mill, and we buy two centre backs at 15-20 mill each. Provides the Lacroix replacement plus a much needed cover player for the back three. Someone like Antonio Silva at Benfica, only 22 with a lot of experience under his belt.

Looks like it gonna happen at €55m. Another cut price sale.
i can see why Chelsea may want Lacroix, as they have a number of very similar centre backs, but no outstanding ones, however, i'd be disappointed if he went there as they can't offer European football next season.

With 3 years left of his contract and being such a crucial player for us we need to be strong and demand a sizeable transfer fee - £50m minimum with maybe an extra £10m in add ons.

As has been mentioned if they hare valuing Gusto at £75m and they got £38m for Maatsen who was always a decent but average left back then they have to pay.

I would tell both Lacroix and Wharton to give one more year and then we will consider offers in 12 months. Obviously if a player is determined to go there is not much the club can do.

Can't see parish taking €55 million.
Facking hell, the guy is 26 with years on his contract so if this is true then is something seriously wrong.

The only downside to loss if him is that riad is coming good but still not happy with having to depend so much on canvot.

I wonder if some take the view ( mistaken from my standpoint) that we can just replace Lacroix easily and keep the change just because we managed that trick when replacing Anderson with Lacroix.
Guehi and Lacroix were the key elements in a defence which had the longest unbeaten run in Europe last season.
Lacroix played virtually every game, his recovery pace was vital and his form was so good that he forced his way into an exceptional French squad.
He's only 2 years into his long term deal, and unless there's a contract stipulation allowing him to leave, I can see no logic in such a move.

I would, but not for any of the figures I'm hearing. 85-95 mil, why not?
Because we would have to trust in our intent and ability to use that 95 million to fill that hole at the same level and upgrade elsewhere in the squad.

Can we do that with 95 mil? Would we? If not, it's not worth doing... unless our hand gets forced by Max, which I don't think has happened yet.

For all we know he may have a selling price included in his contract and if he wants to go then it’s hard to stop him. I my humble opinion there are 4 players we must not sell Hendo Lacroix Wharton and Mateta.
