The Burnham scrutiny thread

A complete disregard for 14 years of Tory rule, where they f**cked up just about everything and it's Labour that's the problem?

Why does no one on here recognise or acknowledge this?

Incredible.

Sorry: all too credible.

A comedy show.
I don't know what the f*** you're on about. Are you just generally triggered? I totally agree that the Tories were incompetent. I didn't support them. I used to support Labour. I include the Tories within my statement. I also don't trust reform.
Clearly, but, but Tories is not washing now though is it? As Labour are at least as bad or worse. I'd say worse.

The idiots show that the far right do not like democracy they see it as an obstacle we will have a riot not needing an excuse a quiet rural idyll seems to be a favourite target, horrible bunch of racists.

But Khan has made a habit of winning elections, after BoJo the clown anyone would be much appreciated particularly the clean air that he has fought for,and getting rid of the "old bangers" what is not to like?
And apparently not having any grooming gangs on “his patch” well according to him anyway. Bloke is a total fraud

Presumably you are not describing Epsom! 🤣

So anyone not voting Labour or who criticise them are far right racists? Sums the left up, at least they are all for democracy 🤣🤣

So these far right racists delayed elections? And didn't accept the results of a referendum?
They riot ten time worse. Totally non democratic.

7 Prime ministers in 10 years in bonkers.
It's not the leader who runs the country, but the people that hold him accountable. Unfortunately, nowadays these people are the media; press, social or otherwise, pressure groups or those currently benefitting when they should not be. All looking for an Outrage. and there are ALWAYS people that lose out in every decision. Eventually and inevitably the leader will have been found to have done something outrageous enough for these people to call out, sometimes taking their party with them.

The country is in trouble; if they try to do something to actually fix the issues, it offends someone, gets castigated and that's the start of their downfall.

That's what I'm hoping for for the next government, Reform; Everyone expects outrage, so it may be harder to turf them out 🤣. but it'll probably be easier in reality.
The challenge facing 'Reform' is not capturing attention,it is not mobilising anger, nor winning protest votes.
It is winning the trust of others.

But the trouble is they've had to pick up the tab for that bunch and, although you seem outraged by my comment, how is it not true? They've had just two years and people have been on their back right from the start.

Ok, I accept that you were not a great supporter of the Tory debacle, you surely must agree, though, that the consensus on here is to slag off the Labour come what may. No?

I'm not 'triggered', particularly; it is what it is.

I have been thinking about this, and the possible reasons why.

One thing sticks out to me. I think any of the major political parties not in office before the last general election could have smashed the ball into a very open goal with one message: "We know standards in public service have dropped to unacceptable levels. We know there are all sorts of suspicions around improper conduct and use of funds around Covid contracts. We totally get the levels of anger caused when politicians tell you to do one thing, but we think the rules do not need to apply to us. This is not a party or policy problem. It is an endemic Westminster problem which causes real damage to public trust. We cannot promise miracles, but we can at least promise X, Y and Z standards will be upheld."

I do not think any of the opposition parties made this part of their central messaging. It cannot have been by accident because there was so much anger for so many sleaze related reasons: the Number 10 parties in lockdown, the Cummings trip up north to Maiden Castle and the "eye test", the Hancock extra marital bum grabbing on cctv, and so on. So why not?

The one thing Burnham can do before he loses the next election is cut the sovereign grant from 132.1m to zero, they are rich enough to pay there own way.

I and an extrapolation of the opinion polls think Burnham will win the next election, your forte really is the football pages. 😉

What’s yours? Doesn’t seem to be the political thread 😉 other opinions are welcome
I voted Labour👍 who are in power,or have you forgotten. Also they are on the rise in the opinion polls. 😆 😆 😆 😆

I for one do not associate the word 'Forte' with myself.
In the main I concentrate my feeble efforts on the football debates, as this was my 'Raison D'etre' for joining this esteemed site, besides I have an active 'Political' life away from HOL and expend ample energy in the political arena supporting my party.
I have a proclivity to 'Give a wide berth' to the political discissions on HOL !

Very understandable, I think a few on here are not inclined to consider democracy and Parliament they are more Kristelnacht and boot boy types.

Talking of polls, on the IPSOS poll, 67% of 18-35 year olds don't want a Monarchy
55+ aged people surveyed are 74% for the Monarchy
It is only a matter of time until this nepotism of the highest order is abolished.

The only real measure is a G.E. but in the mean time we make do with opinion polls as with all stats they can be manipulated to fit anyone's truth, my son works as a data scientist and banks are looking for a pre- conceived outcome that suits them.
